I'm really hesitant to start a thread about cat food, given our history on this
group re: that topic, but here goes anyway. :-)
Yoda throws up dry food. Any dry food I've ever brought, comes back up
practically undigested. I never tried to find out why, I just keep him on
canned food because he has no problem with it. But dry is the only food Boots
will eat well, so occasionally Yoda gets into it. And throws up.
I bought a sample size jug of Pro Plan Extra Care. It touts no corn, no wheat,
no preservatives and such. I caught him snarfing down her food, but noticed he
didn't throw up. Tried it again, and he still didn't throw up.
This is really peculiar. I am curious whether all this time the vomiting is
from a corn or wheat allergy, or some preservative. . Doesn't really make any
difference, because I"m still not going to start feeding him dry food on
purpose, but I was just curious.

Woops. I bet you're scratching your heads over that one. I'm sorry, my bad. I
thought I was posting to another group, one that sometimes gets into heated
debates over which cat food is best.
But I'd still love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

I say if he eats it without barfing, don't totally change his diet but go
ahead and let him snag some of the dry if he wants to :)

I did wonder about that. :o)

It sounds to me like an allergy. I've read that cats are often allergic to
rice and corn, and those are often the main ingredients in dry food.
<staying off the soapbox for now> If Yoda likes the Pro Plan, maybe give him
some as a treat now and then. Nikki would love to eat only dry food, but I
only give her a small treat (4-5 pieces) every evening.

a lot of cats have food allergies and putting them on a sensitive stomach or
reduced allergen prescription food (z/d in science diet)

It also might have something to do with the size of the kibble.  A lot of
kibble is just the right size to eat with out chewing, and so when the cat
drinks some water, the food expands, thus making them fuller than he was
originally, and they hurl.  It could be that this kibble is either big
enough so he chews it, or small enough so it doesn't expand as much.

It could definitely be an allergy or just intolerance to grains.

Wow, My cat Freddy pretty much refuses to eat anything other than dry. He's
nearly 3 and i think i have finally found a wet food he will eat readily.
And yes, as a kitten he would get wet food, mostly fresh pet meat plus the
extra bran, egg, and vitamins i would add in. I had a ferret at the time and
they shared each others food.
i've been lucky that he has rarely been sick, and only a few times on food.
I can leave food in his bowl at all times, he doesn't guts himself.
I think i sound lucky.
