Love bites and love kicks

Imp came to see me this morning!!! He hasn't done that in a while.

I'm half awake when I sense him behind me.  I roll over slowly and
start scritching the side of this face.  he leans into my hand and
eventually flops onto his side.  This continues for a moment, with him
rubbing and leaning his head into my fingers, when suddenly i feel two
paws wrap around my hand.

Imp pulls my hand in close and bites it.  Not hard enough to break the
skin, but enough to pinch.  He continues to nibble on my hand lightly
and throws in a few kicks with his back feet.  Then he stops.

I start scritching him again, and he bites me again.  I try to remove
my hand but imp thinks now I'm trying to wrestle with him so he hangs
on and throws in a few more bites and kicks.  I free my hand and he
just looks at me.  I start scritching him again, but soon he's got my
hand again and biting it.  After a while he gets tired and runs away

Fortunately he doesn't scratch me hard anymore.  When I first adopted
him he used to totally scratch up my hands.

I guess this is a thing he does when he gets overstimulated or
something.  Like the chin scratches are sooooo good he has to bite the
hand that's scratching him.   Wait a sec, that doesn't really make
sense..........   Aw well, that's a cat for you.

Anyone else have kitties that give love bites and kicks?

Yeah, Cali's a kicker and a biter. She'll kick you with her hind feet when
you rub her belly (no claws) and occaisonally nip your hand.  This is
usually followed by a lick, "Oh, I didn't really mean to do that". Then
she'll do it all over again

Smokey's the grabby one. Any time you pet her she'll wrap her paws around
your hand and try to lick you to death. I suspect her mother had to hold her
down to wash her, so she is doing the same.

Yep. My normally sedate (sedantary, even) Amelia. If I pet her tummy
when she's feeling at all playful I can count on having her grab my hand
with her front paws, bite me (gently), and bunny-kick me.

Both LB and Sammy will sometimes when getting belly rubs and they want
to play.

From your description Imp sounded a little like Sammy when she's
nervous and just wants some hooman contact, but no scritches or
loving. When there's a storm, she usually heads to the bedroom and
crawl under the covers. If I go in and lay down on the bed to keep her
company, and she'll wrap her paws around my arm. She's not interested
in petting, though, and if I do more than briefly rub her head she
moves down to my ankles. I figure she feels safer with the contact,
but wants to be able to keep her attention on the storm.

Oh yes, Midnight and Robin are both into this -- Midnight because she
"knows" she's superior; one minute she's licking your hand lovingly and the
next she's "love-biting" it, just to show us who really runs the household,
I think.  Robin does the wrestling routine with my hands because I think he
hasn't really figured out how to "play" with a human.

Office kitty Tiger does this - he can't seem to help himself.  Ozzy
does bite a little, but it seems to be an expression of grouchiness
with him.  Mike also gave *hard* love bites that would draw blood.  If
he wasn't playing, the bunny kicks weren't love - he meant it.  So
far, Tallulah hasn't done this, and Hubert flees from love, so it
doesn't apply to him.  ;-)

Yes, Vino will do that.  We never raised him right and now he loves to play
with our hands.  It's ok because he's mostly very gentle about it and when
he gets carried away we just have to yell "ouch!" and he ducks and backs
off.  He ducks because we used to flick him on the forehead instead of
yelling ouch.  Not hard, just with one finger.
Anyway, he'll be all into scritches and everything, and suddenly he gets
really playful and starts biting and rabbit kicking.  Then he gets up and
runs a few feet away, turns towards us and gets ready to pounce.  When this
happens, the only thing to do is to play with him, the scritching mood is
over.

Sandpaper kisses, a cuddle and a purr. I have an alarm clock that's covered
in fur!

Snoopy bites, sometimes she forgets herself and bites hard, then she
immediately looks sorry. It's impossible to be cross with her, even when
she draws blood. She will occasionaly grab my hand and kick when I'm
giving her belly rubs. It shows me how much she trusts me, she's a very
nervous cat she hides if there are strangers about.

Anyone else have kitties that give love bites and kicks?

Kristi

Hi  Kristi,

I had the cutest bunny kick done to me today.  I am mom & kitten sitting for
a friend. The 6 kibs are 16 days old, (4 black, 2 pewter gray) and starting
to get around quite well. I went in to their room, and started picking them
up to check them out, and one of the little gray babies grabbed my finger
and bunny kicked it. <G> I told him that he was SOOO fierce and he was going
to be a great hunter of flies one day. <G>  I will miss them when their
'dad' comes back!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!

Once there was a cat adoption at a pet store, and I picked up a
sparkly streamer toy and start teasing one of the kittens.  This
kitten jumped up, grabbed the toy in his mouth and shook it.  I tried
to pull it back, but he growled at me.

A kitten?  Growling??  "It's MY toy now!"

I was giggling because it was so cute!!
