There has been talk of West Nile Virus arriving in California the last two
summers, and there have been a infected birds in other counties, etc.

So last week when I got up and there was a dead Magpie in the back yard I
put it in a plastic bag and looked up where you are supposed to report them
for testing.  It was picked up that afternoon.

I just got a call.  It tested positive.  They will be out Friday to spray
extra well around here, etc.  And I guess sitting out in the evening will be
a no no.

At least it is reassuring that they do a very good job of mosquito control
around here.  And the 100 degree weather we have this week puts a big dent
in standing water.

But fall comes late around here and mosquito season can last well into
November.
