The Yowlet was 4 months old last week. We survived!!!!
He's outgrown newborn clothes 9at 2 months) and is now pretty much outgrown
the 3-6 month old clothes as well. Everyone keeps mentioninghow small he
is.... until they hold him themselves and see that in reality he's actually
a *big* baby. Its just that when Joel or I are holidng him, he looks small
compared to us.
At 3 months, allthat gorgeous hair he was born with was gone *sniff*, as was
the utterly adorable hairy ears (I so loved those furry little ears), but on
the same token he could hold his head up and look around, and squeak in
delight. He's got a great temperament, he doens't cry all that often and
spends more time squeaking in utter delight and doing his little happy dance
as he does crying. Some days he doens't cry at all if I feed him and get him
to sleep at the right times.
About 3 weeks ago he came to the remarkable conclusion that his hands were
his own. He sat there for a good day doing that typical "stoner" thing of
staring at his hands while slowly moving them around "Like wow, man!" It was
so cute.
But best of all, within the last few days, The Yowlet has discovered he has
a voice. He now occasionally giggles, which is like music from heaven to me,
but also has a range of fairly expressive sounds..
His first discernable word?
Do you even need to ask?
"Meow", almost indistinguishable from His Majesty himself.
The Mothership has another slave.

Truly, in amongst all the oohs and aaaahs, he made the an almost exact
duplicate of Shmogg's "I want food NOW!" sound. I couldn't believe it
myself, but its 100% true!

Cute! From here on, he's going to absorb words like a sponge. Especially the
bad ones. Apparently they're the most fun to say.

A former co-worker of mine once told me about coaching her baby
daughter all day, trying unsuccessfully to teach her a new word.
Then the mother decided to hang a picture on the wall, hit her thumb
with the hammer while driving the nail, and let out a swear word.
Her daughter started using that word right away.

I have no doubt that Shmogg's sound for "Feed me, NOW!" is a bad word or
two, in Cat.

Oh, I bet! Cats really can swear up a storm. Vino is a real potty mouth.
It's probably for the best we don't have children. Vino would be a bad
influence. Of course, neither Dennis nor I *ever* swear ;-)

Awww, Vickie, this is so very sweet. Carey sounds like an adorable
little boy, obviously the result of the love he receives from his
parents and fursibs.

Lovely update Yowie,{ as that is all I can make do with as yet!}you
mentioned *when you feed and get him to sleep at the right times*
cogatulations you picked up on that quickly. Routine is essential to
a baby's well being but I didn't want to be pushy and say that, you
might have told me to mind my own buisness, *just joking*, but it is true
most of the time my fosters that came as cryers, only needed to be worked
into a routine, and it was amazing the difference it made. I'm glad he is
coming on so well, and I'm sure he will continue to do so. He has the right
sort
of parents Jean.P {Honorary Grandmother and proud of it!!!!!!
Please could you send me a shmoggleberry as I have lost the other,
see I lose more stuff than you Jean.
