No, I'm not kidding.  You know those cords that hang down from
mini-blinds.  Well, mine are not the unsafe kind.  They are short and
have a little bobber thing on the end.  The Stripey Thing will get up on
the back of the recliner and start batting the bobber thing around.
Ahh, you might think, he is playing.  And you would be wrong.  He is
trying to catch the thing in his paw/claws so he can clean his tongue
and teeth.  Once he catches it, he holds it taut and licks it and bites
it so as to clean between his back teeth - not trying to bite it in
half.  I swear he moves his head back and forth to get flossing action.
After about 15 minutes of cleaning his teeth, he'll quit.

I think I have the weirdest cats sometimes. (Then I read this newsgroup
and realize mine have some tough competition - but I bet no one else has
a flossing cat.)

Well, you got me. My cats don't floss. No matter how much I nag.
LOL. Cute story, I'dlove to see that.

It's true, nobody here flosses, either. Well, I try to remeember to do
it myself. :) Wrt weird cats, you might have set up some expectations
by naming yours "The Stripey Thing". :) (I love that name, btw. I often
refer to Roxy as "The Striped Individual", as in "this tipped-over
wastebasket with trash strewn all over the floor looks like the work of
a certain Striped Individual.")

You're lucky. Our crew has chewed off every blind cord they've gotten
their little paws on.

That's hysterical! What good dental hygiene the Stripey Thing has!
I wonder if he could give lessons to Shamrock, he of stinky breath?
