Hi all,
A lady named Liz Chase contacted me recently, introducing herself as
Janice's best friend. Liz and her husband live with Norma now, in Janice's
apartment. (Norma upstairs, Liz & her DH on the 1st floor.)
Liz has very kindly allowed me to post the message she sent me to rpca, so
that we may gain some insight into Janice's last days, and also into the
love she had for her kitties. (Message below)
If you'd like to write to Liz please send the message to me, and I will
forward it to her. It will save her becoming inundated with spam from the
ngs.
Purrs to all,

Flippy,
I so enjoy when you send out writings of Janice Munday. She was my best
friend. Courtesy of being laid off, I was able to spend a great deal of good
quality time with her until she passed away. I started my new job exactly
one week after she died.
Anyone who did not know Jan would have thought she was comatose those last
two days. Her mom and I knew different. Laying there, refusing to close her
eyes, moving not an inch, then that left hand would pet Baby. How wonderful
that she was able to spend her last days at home, thanks to Hospice. When I
brought up the idea of Hospice, her mother had a very negative reaction.
Back in 1988 when her husband passed away, Hospice was not in-home care. He
was a 40 minute drive away. Her doctor authorized hospice care and Jan spent
her last months at home with her four cats.
The day after she passed away, Hospice came to get the hospital bed. Her mom
and I were just about to leave to go to the funeral home and Clarissa was so
very mournful and very upset that some bad men came and took her beloved's
bed. I asked her mom for a bathrobe of Jan's and we put it on the foot
stool. Clarissa immediately leapt on to it, claiming it as her own.
As we were taking Jan's things out of her apartment, Clarissa dashed outside
and was gone for a month. When she returned, she wouldn't leave Norma's side
and was terrified of outside doorways.
I know that many people loved Jan and kept in touch both on the web and
visiting in person (from Finland). IF anyone would like to donate to Hospice
in her memory, the address is:
Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut
PO Box 902
Uncasville, CT 06382
Thank you.
Liz Chase

That's so nice of you both to do that, and it's nice to be reminded of JEM.

Thanks so much for this, Flippy. I will always remember JEM; please thank
Liz for the post. I'm glad JEM was able to have all her loved ones with
her, furred and bare.
Hugs,

And that's exactly how I hope I'll be able to die. Thanks for the
message Flippy. It's nice to know that JEM died surrounded by love.

Thank you for this, Flippy. Norma mentioned Janice's friend, and how
much they enjoyed each other in her last days. I'm glad those days
were happy ones.
