Beautiful doll baby for adoption

I went to get catfood at the vets today and what should be there, only a
week after Nermal's passing, but a dainty little silver tipped persian for
adoption. Tiny. Tiny, tiny. Like a half grown kitten and HUGE green eyes.
But she is 4 years old. Her owners did not want to deal with her tail
sucking. The vet put her on some anti depressants and the tail sucking
stopped, so, they are looking for a home for her. Nina. I tell you if I did
not have three cats already I would have packed her up on the spot. What's a
littel pilling?? She was sweet and let me pet her. Then when one of the vets
came out, she jumped down and sauntered off, streeeetching out each little
delicate back leg. I'm sure she will get adopted shortly. She is the cutest
damn thing I ever saw. She will HAVE to be an indoor cat because she would
get snatched for sure if she were outside. So if anyone in the vicinity of
Eastern Nebraska would like a doll baby of a kitty, I will gladly give you
directions. I figure the tail sucking probably came from a strained
environment. Anyone willing to give up over such a MINOR problem was
probably totally anal and did not give her enough attention anyway.

Ugh! The reasons people will come up with!!  Purrs that she has a new
home soon.

I can't imagine why this would bother them enough to givbe her up. Sad.

Especially because she is soooo beautiful and dainty. It's not fair, but
beauty helps :)

Awww. She sounds so dear. I bet somebody won't be able to resist her.

What a rotten thing to do -- to give up a cat for something as minor as
"tail sucking!"  Fortunately, this cat sounds so pretty (and so unusual)
that I am sure she will be adopted...and it sounds like she will be much
better off to be out of that environment.

She sounds adorable, but I'm about 900 miles away and must pay extra rent per
pet. Tail sucking even sounds kinda cute.

Oh, I'm sorry.  I thought I read that they gave her up because of
"tail sucking."

TAIL SUCKING?!!!

<sigh>

If she was with someone who understood her a little better, maybe she
will stop the tail sucking.  Purrs for her to find a real home.

Well, yeah, but on the other hand, it's her tail, you know? If she was
sucking the owner's tail (if he/she had one, that is) I could see the
objection. People are nuts!

:') I'm glad. At the time I was serious but I can see how
it would be funny.

That was my thought.

Sheesh, some of the cats I've had, I'd have been relieved if the
weirdest thing they did was tail sucking. :-)

She was probably a 'trophy pet' - they wanted her for her looks, but didn't
really want an actual pet that you have to interact with, and I sure hope
they went to Toys 'R' Us & bought a stuffed toy Persian for display, instead
of seeking out a 'suitable' replacement for this precious kitty.

The tail sucking issue will probably go away when she finds a good home,
where she will have lots of people, toys and/or other kitties to play with.

That's how I got my dear little Roxy, a Persian with championship
bloodlines.  They ended up keeping the poor little thing in the garage
so she wouldn't mess up their "too too perfect" home.  When we first
got her, she was the "Kitty who didn't know how to play."  Now I can
expect little kitty pats several times a day demanding I break out the
peacock feather or the kitty string for her to play with.

I hope the same thing happens for this little one.

Sammy sucks her tail, her paws, Bandit's tail, my neck, whatever is in
reach when she feels the need for comfort (I can always tell when she
is going to start sucking, she snuggles up to me and starts purring
REALLY loudly, the little tongue comes out in the "down" position, and
she starts smacking away).

I can't imagine wanting to "get rid" of her because of this, and I
wouldn't even consider putting her on medication to stop this (would
you "get rid" of, or dope up a child for sucking his thumb??!!?).  Of
course, my husband claims we always end up with "defective" cats - he
is just kidding - Bandit is psycho kitty from hell, Demi is the
original scaredy cat, Jessie is hyperactive, and Sammy sucks!

But I feel about cats the same way I feel about kids, once they're
there, they're there for life, faults and all.

The reason for medication is that she sucked it bad enough to make it bleed
and be sore. I'm sure she can be weaned off it eventually.  I think I may
have found a VERY good adopter for her. Will keep you all posted.

Oh, well that's a whole different story.  I thought a matter of her
having a wet tail.  If she's hurting herself then it's definitely
destructive behavior that needs to be handled by whatever (humane)
means available.

Good on your for helping this baby find a new home!

I still don't understand why they felt the need to give her away,
though!

I imagine it's one of those stories where we'll never know the whole
story. IIRC, the cat was 4 years old, but I don't remember any mention
how long the he/she had been in the home. I agree with you, though, if
the cat was a beloved member of this family she's still be here.

All in all though. it really sounds like she's better off in a new
home where she'll be loved even if it ends up that she has to be
medicated. Wouldn't surprise me a bit to learn that medication isn't
need once she's settled in her new home, though.
