Jill,
My dad has had that done as well as had an anuersym (sp?) removed off the
part of the aorta that runs behind the belly. Recovery time went remarkably
well.
Purrs to you and your mom that the surgery goes well.

Thank you. Dad's (re)femeral artery surgery will be scheduled after Mom
recovers from hers. When it rains it pours. I said "Maybe I should bring
you a kitten to cuddle." Don't you DARE!
Mom has no idea about cats. The one time my brother Paul's then-cat
Neferkiti jumped on her lap she looked at me and said, "What do I do now?"
:) Mother, pet her her! The cat started purring. Mom said, it's making
this rumbling sound. Mom, that's called PURRRING. She's happy. Just sit
back and drink your tea. The cat likes you.
Would tick my father off majorly if I brought her a cat. Hmmmm.

My mother didn't like cats. She swore she didn't like cats. Still remember
when she came to visit and was left alone in the apartment with Sam the
demon Siamese. We came home and she was sitting on the sofa and he was
sitting on her lap. She was kind of afraid to move. Then she decided
Siamese were OK but she still didn't like cats.
We all decided that her Alzheimer's was taking a sudden turn for the worse
when she started talking to us on the phone about the cat she had visiting
her apartment. That she needed to go feed the cat or that she needed to get
more cat litter. Not our Mom for crying out loud.
Later on after she did have to move to an Alzheimer's care unit, I was
talking to the beautician at her former residence. The lady was in the
habit of bringing her cat with her to work. The people in the independent
living apartments seemed to enjoy having it around. And many times when she
would go out of town for a few days, Mom would volunteer to baby-sit, and
the cat would stay in her apartment. You just never know.

Reminds me so much of myself.
Once we were visiting my better half's sister and her neice brought a young
kitten in the house [they live on a goat farm]. Of course, I like animals
so she gave it to me to hold. I'm sitting there petting it and I hear this
rumbling sound. I listened close and told the neice "you'd better have your
kitten looked at by a vet, she seems to have some sort of respiratory
problem". LOL, I had no idea...
I was about 40 then, and if I could know then what I know now about cats,
I'd be willing to do those 40 years over again. They enhance life _so_
much. Found that out about 6 years later when we adopted Smoochie and
Mooch.
Purrs and best wishes for your mom and dad, Jill

reading this!!! LOL Too funny :D Waste of perfectly good beer, I might
add. You owe me one :)

Yeah, it is kind of funny. Now I can't even imagine not knowing what a purr
sounds like, but back then I really didn't have too much contact with
kitties. My aunt had a cat named Mischief. Mischief liked my aunt, but not
really any one else. If you could get her to come to you to pet her, she'd
let you do it 3-4 times then bite you. So, that's about all I knew.
Want something else funny. I used to think kittens simply spent their day
sleeping cutely and playing with balls of yarn! Man what a surprise when we
got M&S. They behaved kind of like Bev's Bonnnie and Clyde :-)
Take care,

Ah what a fool you are! And just wait until you've got your pants around
your ankles and one of them decides to give you "love bites" (hopefully on
the shins!)
When may I redeem my beer?

Hee hee, when the big Mooch stands up and stretches against me he pretty
much reaches my hips, at least his paws do. Luckily I've always been
wearing something when he does that.
> When may I redeem my beer?
Oh, I dunno Jill. I'm pretty much home all the time, [except when I'm not
:-)]. If you ever get up to Milwaukee or the surrounding WI area, I'd be
happy to pour you a Guiness, or whatever your favourite happens to be!
> Jill (who thanks you again for making her photo look better)
Can't say I really made it look "better" [don't mess with perfection :-)],
it was just a filter in the photo program. I wish I was as good with that
Photoshop stuff as some of the regulars at alt.binaries.pictures.originals.
There are some really good portrait and portrait enhancing photographers
there.
