I talked to Pam today and she requested purrs/prayers for her family. Rob had a
little difficulty and had to go to the ER. She said they thought it was due to
the high altitude. She called from Strasburgh, Colorado. I hope I understood
her correctly, but I did understand that all was well right now and they are
just going to relax for the day. The next stop is Missouri.
That family is amazing.

Purrs for the Shirks going out from here. It's been fun reading about
their adventures and I'm sorry it is interrupted with health problems
but good to hear Rob is doing better.

Lots of purrs on the way.  That high altitude can make anyone feel a little
light headed and woozy.  In Rob's case better safe and get checked out.
Hope all is well and they just get an extra day's rest.

That can really get one. I've known lots of people to have trouble from that
while on vacation. Purrs for Rob to feel better right soon.

Altitude sickness is unpleasant at best (I once had a mild case of it
in the Alps after exercising too hard), and, in extreme cases, can be
deadly.  It sounds like he will be OK, and the problems should go
away once he gets back down to lower altitudes and thicker air.

I think it was much more than altitude sickness. It sounded like a very scary
episode. But I'll let Pam relate it when she gets online. It was difficult to
hear her, the phone was cutting out and I'm afraid I would relate something
wrong. I am really worried about them and will be glad to hear when they are
safe back home.

I am shocked! And purring and praying now. I finally got through on
their cell phone Monday morning and talked to Rob; Pam was driving.
They said nothing about Rob's problem; but he seemed in good form and
I could hear Pam laughing in the background. He told me at that time,
early Monday morning, thye were about 50 miles from the Kansas border
and headed for Garden City to meet a trucker relative(Iforget which).
We talked about cats and traffic and the trip and the tons of pictures
they have been taking. They said this trip is a once-in-a-lifetime
trip. But next year were planning on Toad Suck?? I have seen that
header in the messages but didn't read it with my limited time. Now I
am wishing I had. But Rob is so friendly and we talked like we had
known each other a long time. They are enjoying the trip enormously.
