Well, I asked a while back. Leave Bert the cat home for how long, as I
spend a few nights with lady. Despite the 2-night max generally
recommended, he's done fine with 3...FYI. Of course with beaucoup food
and water. And cute and loving when I return...as long as he gets out
immediately:)
Anyone figured out how to tell which flavor wet food cat likes? Bert
eats all dry, but some wet. And I guess the wet is all about the same,
despite flavor labels, so what's beter? Why is his preference?

As a general rule, the smellier the we cat food, the more the cat will like
it. However, each cat is also an individual, with individual tastes, which
of course can change from time to time, just like ours. And even with an
absolute favourite food, you can get mighty sick of it if you eat it too
often, and cats are the same.
As long as the stuff you are feeding your cat is good quality food and
doens't cause your cat any health problems (such as allergies or urine
crystals), then feed the cat a variety of different flavours - you cat will
quicklly let you know which ones are the favourites, and which ones won't be
touched even when he/she is "starving".

Aahhh my son, that is one of the great mysteries of life. It's
your cat's nature to snack a little here and a little there if
crunchies are available all the time. When it comes to wet food
though they are usually in one of two modes.
Mode one:
I need that food now and if you don't hurry up I'll starve.
Mode two:
I'll sniff it since you put it in front of me, but you really
don't expect me to eat that now do you?
It's just a trick to drive humans crazy. Can't you tell from
reading the posted articles that, as the Cheshire Cat from Alice In
Wonderland said, "We're all mad here!"

Hi Brad, B & C are mad on cat biscuits but will only eat certain types
of tinned cat food. They sneer at fresh fish and nibble at fresh meat.
Their favourite - gourmet!!! (expensive)small tinned cat sardines and
tuna. Big tins of various cat food (cheaper tins) simply don't get
eaten, sigh. Guess they are spoiled rotten.
Nice to see your posts. Pity you don't live near any of our
destinations when we visit the US in August, we could have met up :)

The short answer is, you can't win. ;-)
Skeeter almost never eats wet food, so I don't worry about her
preferences. Lindy goes through phases. At one point she would eat
anything fish flavored, but not anything else. At another point, it
didn't matter what it was as long as it was flaked, sliced, or chunked.
She changes periodically. I kept a chart for a while, showing what I
fed her and how much of it she ate. Then I'd make up my shopping list
based on that chart. That would last for a few weeks if I was lucky,
then she'd change and I'd have to start over.
I used to try out different dry foods, and found that they would always
eat Friskies and usually Kit 'n' Kaboodle. They would *never* eat
generic dry food. Then Skeeter was prescribed KD, and to my amazement,
both of them love it.
