A storm came though about 6 this morning. Not much rain, but enough so
that I'm giving the lawns a little time to dry out before heading out
to pick up the mowers. Actually, I have the weather channel on and may
just not mow today. Another round of storms is due this afternoon.

I'm sitting here clicking on the keyboard when I hear a thud over by
the patio doors. When I look, I'm in time to see Sammy leap up about 6
feet and hit the glass door. When I take a closer look I notice a
hummingbird hovering at the feeder which hangs about three feet from
the door. She ended up jumping up three or four times before the
hummer had finished and flew away.

Guess it's hard work leaping that high from a standing start.  ;-))
Little Bit is laying next to Sammy watching the other birds at the
seed feeder. Sammy's zonked out with one eye open in case the hummer
comes back.

I remember sitting out on our second floor balcony combing my
Misty when a hummer came by and paused briefly just over the railing
about three feet from the cat.  I'm not sure if she had seen a hummer
up close before, but I swear that cat came this close to leaping off
the balcony in an attempt to get that bird.  The expression on her
face seemed to say, "Thank you mother nature for creating such a
perfect thing.  Now would you kindly make it come back and play?"

How cute!  They say that dragonflies similarly tease cats into jumping
into ponds.  I haven't seen any hummingbirds in my area (though people
say they're around), but plenty of other types of birds like to visit
the back yard.  Betty watches them so intently and acks at them.  I
get the impression that she's whining, even though it's not a whining
sound she makes.  She loves watching birds.

LOL, such a clever kitty.   I am so jealous about humming birds.   We
don't have them here.   When I come back to the US I intend keeping an
eye out for them.   My cousin in LA always had feeders up for them.

I remember visiting the San Diego zoo many years ago. They had walk
through avaries full of all type of birds, including at least one
where the hummingbirds buzzed the people as they walked through.

Same thing happens on my front porch if we don't keep the feeders full.

Yes!  They are nervy little mites!

We don't have them here, either, so it was quite a surprise to have
one divebomb me in LA.  It was just a litle blur. ;) It seemed too
tiny for a bird, and very big for a bug, so I was a little
disconcerted. ;)

We are getting more rain in the last days than I can remember ever!
3,4,5 inches at a time in about 4  days. My phones are acting up,
my electricity is acting up. I swear they are all affected by the
heavy rains, and it's scary. Electrician time.

I love hummingbirds!  I can imagine they freak out Sammy and co.
Once in my old apartment one was buzzing around me on the balcony
and I thought it was a big bug before I realized it was a
hummingbird. I'm glad I didn't swat it!
