In other words, the stairs. Everything is the way it is specifically
for Stinky's entertainment (of course!) and the staircase is no
exception. For one thing, Stinky likes to sleep on them. On his
back, belly up, stretched out as far as he can go.
But he does something else that I find quite funny and weird, and
completely his own-- may be hard to visualize, so stay with me. ;)
When he wakes up, he will begin scratching the step above him.
Eventually, he will get so excited that he will grab the carpeted
overhang of the step, and start ferociously bunny-kicking it. The
really funniest thing is when he will start scratching the projecting
part of the step he is on-- he will grab that thing with his front
paws-- and flip himself completely over, in a kind of somersault-- on
to the step below. Where he will lie, sprawled out, front claws dug
into the upper step, ferociously disemboweling it with his feet. He
works himself up into a proper kitty frenzy this way, until he just
explodes from his perch to fly up and down the stairs a few times
(ears pinned back, eyes almost crossed ;)). Then he'll extend his
circuit to the basement stairs (THUMP THUMP THUMP)
This is when I am most likely to get a "drive-by" kick from him. :P

Drive-by kick! I love that one. I've received a few too.
No stairs in my house, but all the kitties love the step ladder.
As soon as I open it up there'll be at least one furry body on
the top step, ready to bop me on the head.
