Remember the saga of Emanuel and Buddy? Awhile back Emanuel and a
cousin managed to catch the orange kitty they were sure was Buddy
returning. But he fought like heck and got away and hasn't been seen
since. But they know now that it wasn't Buddy after all. this cat was
a full male; Buddy was neutered. So Emanuel was grieving again.

This weekend Emanuel's Daddy was working the late shift (he is a tech
at the hospital). He was telling a co-worker the saga of Buddy and
Emanuel. The lady said that is wonderful, because she had the
solution. For some reason (they didn't tell me) the lady had to find a
home for her cat. So John followed her home and picked up the cat with
a bag of canned food.

It was late when he got home and Emanuel was fast asleep. John took
the cat to the basemant where she explored every nook and cranny. Then
Emanuel woke up and the cat made a beeline to him and crawled into his
arms and purred herself to sleep. Emanuel went to sleep with a smile
on his face. With that, John was satisfied that the grieving was over.

The cat is named Lelo, is one year old and is soft, velvet black. her
shots are up to date and she is micro-chipped. But she is also
declawed on the front paws. Emanuel knows about her being strictly an
indoor cat. They are also going to put a sign on the front door about
not letting her out. A lot of people are careless about not closing
the door.

However, she spends most of her time with Emanuel. She tolerates other
people; I got to hold and pet her for a couple minutes. But it is very
evident she knows she is Emanuel's cat. I am so happy for them.

How wonderful and sweet.  Two happy customers. ;)

And the boy's parents are happy for him and the lady is happy that her
cat has a loving home. Satisfactory all around.

Great that Emanuel has a new cat, but wish the perfect ending would
have been for the strange cat had been Buddy come home.

Yeah, I still miss Buddy. He was a great cat. I hope the strange cat
found another place for handouts. I am so sorry the boys scared him.

I'm very sorry to hear that it wasn't Buddy that they found.  But Lelo
sounds like just what Emanuel needed to help get over his loss, and he
really needs a cat, as it's so evident that he's a natural born cat
slave.  Purrs that they have a long and wonderful relationship.

Emanuel has certainly changed since Lelo came. He is glowing with a
gentle, indulgent pride when he is with her. Sometimes while she is
exploring the house, Emanuel follows her around and helps her by
lifting bed-skirts and opening closet doors. They are a team already.

It sounds as though he's very susceptible to cats' Jedi powers. :)

Emanuel must have some kind of special kitty mojo - they just seem to
love him! The new cat just went right for him, with barely an introduction.
I find that amazing. How old is Emanuel again?

I'm really glad he has a new kitty love. And that this one is indoor-only!
Maybe this time he won't get his heart broken.

Emanuel is 12. He is a sweet, gentle boy. He loves to play "tickle"
and laughs a lot. But he is also a very responsible child. His parents
are wonderful, gentle people and so good at teaching responsibility.
And yet they have to hold him back from taking too much responsibility
for a child his age. His mother has MS and he is in charge of her
exercises and watches over her constantly. He wants to be a doctor.
His parents and grandparents started a college fund for him when he
was born.

His father is half Native American and half African-American. His
mother is pure Italian. So Emanuel has a heritage of passion and
closeness to nature with a great deal of integrity.

Lelo spends most of her time in the basemant with Emanuel and shows no
interest in the doors or windows. That is great. The neighborhood is
not good with nasty kids next door and a busy street a few houses
away.

Awwww.... Thanks for sharing this great update. Too bad about the poor
cat's claws though. :(
I wish them a very long life together.

That is sad about the claws. But at least it was done by a competent
vet. I have heard of the problems some cats have due to a botched
operation. But Lelo is in excellent health. Her former owner took very
good care of her. They should have many years of happiness.
