Kenzie and the potato chips

Potato chips (potato crisps, for those overseas) are Kenzie's all time
favorite treat. Her previous humans told me about this (fortunately), as
she doesn't give a second look (or smell) to Pounce, or other cat
treats. Despite this advice, I bought sever kinds of cat treats, which
Kenzie completely ignores. (Silly cat....)

For the Fourth of July, I bought a small piece of beef to barbecue, and
a bag of potato chips. I love potato chips myself, but since  I have
very high cholesterol and serum lipids, and potato chips are not exactly
a very good food for me, I don't buy them very often. (I do buy the very
small 'lunch size' bags of potato chips for Kenzie, when I see them, as
she enjoys them so very much).

Any way, I barbecued  my piece of beef, and upon opening the bag of
potato chips, Kenzie did her usual trick of exceeding the speed of light
in arriving just before I actually made any of the distinctive noise of
opening the bag of chips. I dutifully gave Kenzie her fill of potato
chips, which she ever so delicately takes from my fingers, one at a
time, and carries over to her food bowl to eat, (so she can get the
crumbs). She's such a little lady!

Well I made the mistake of leaving the bag of potato chips on a chair,
instead of the kitchen counter, as I should have last night.

Kenzie will not jump up on the kitchen counter, or any table, etc. even
to get her beloved potato chips; but any chair in the house  is a
favorite napping spot.

So this afternoon, I found that Kenzie had had a little potato chip orgy
at some point, tearing into the bag and eating many potato chips. She
then proceeded to take a nap curled up on the almost  empty potato chip
bag. Ther were potato chip crumbs all over the (thankfully dark) chair
seat, (but almost none on the floor).

The sight of Kenzie curled up sleeping on an almost empty bag of potato
chips  had me laughing almost to tears.

She woke at the sound of my laughter, with that 'what's wrong with you
look' on her face, and proceeded to *eat what potato chips were left*!

All in all, I think Kenzie has had a better 4th of July celebration than
I did!

That is hysterical!! I hope her little digestive tract handled that, but it
was sure good for a laugh.

Kenzie seems just fine, although she seemed a bit miffed that she didn't
get any of my lunch (a few small pieces of ham, as usually would be the
case).

And I think I'm going to feed her a bit less the next two meals, as she
is already a little overweight. I can't imagine how many calories she
consumed, compared to her normal amount of Nutro 'Lite' dry cat food,
which she generally inhales, and then begs for more.

I wish I had a working camera; I could easily have gotten a picture :-(

Persia does not jump up on counters.  She found an errant potato chip which
I'd somehow dropped on the kitchen floor yesterday and I found her happily
munching away on it.  Next thing I knew, she was *looking* for them.  Uh,
NO, not a good idea.  You're supposed to be eating that special food!

'Tater chips are one of my downfalls.  I don't eat sweets like chocolate or
ice cream but I do adore potato chips!

Time to pill the little princess and hope she still loves me for the next
few weeks.

LOL!  What excellent manners, taking her chips to the food bowl. :)

Isadora was also a great potato chip/crisp fancier.  I remember one
lunch, when I'd bought myself a single serving size bag of chips as a
treat, but was interrupted by a phone call in the other room midway
through lunch.  When I came back to the dining room, there was no bag
of chips on the table, but there WAS a self-propelled bag of chips
scooching all over the kitchen floor, with Izzy's tail and hind legs
sticking out the open end!  The bag was mostly empty at that point,
luckily, but she was going to get every last CRUMB. She also adored
white cheddar cheese popcorn--she would climb me to get it. Francesca
also shows signs of loving the cheddar popcorn, although she hasn't
had a chance to sample chips, yet. (I think it's probably best she
doesn't while she's still a nursing mommy.) Pan sort of sniffs, takes
a lick or two, then walks away to show his complete indifference. He's
a patsy for hot buttered toast, though. Or butter in any form at all.
I have to keep my butter dish in the cabinet out of his reach, as I've
had two butter dishes fall to their deaths on the kitchen floor.
Cleaning up soft butter with splinters of glass embedded in it is one
of the nastier jobs I've tackled.

Mischief like potato chips.  My roommate and I try not to buy them a
lot because they won't last very long.  But when we do, Mischief needs
to have at least one.  And good luck retrieving any chips that fall on
the floor.  When an errant chip falls on the floor, if you try to find
it, all you'll find is crumbs.  :)

Pepper could care less about potato chips, but Simba LOVES them.  He
likes for you to hold a chip for him so he can take little bites.  It
always makes me laugh to see a cat crunching away on a potato chip.

If they're flavored she (Spicey) will lick it off, otherwise it a cat toy.
Spicey and Joann are yogurt addicts at the moment.

Stinky likes the strangest flavors.  He loves sour cream and onion,
and there are some very exotic cheedar cheese flavor ones he likes
too.  The same goes for rice and popcorn cakes.

Ahhhhh, popcorn cakes.  Like those cherries, they are both delicious,
and fly through the air so entertainingly. ;)

That's all very well, says me, having just tried Sally on Ready Salted
to no avail, but WHO is going to EAT those strange concoctions if Sally
refuses them?  Not me, I can tell you that much for free.
