Persia was laying on the pillow next to my computer desk chair. She looked
up at me and I slowly blinked at her and she blinked back, all dreamy-eyed.
Then I cocked my head slightly to the side, she did the same, then flipped
over on her back! Yowsa, did I somehow make her do that? It was exactly
what I was thinking she should do at that moment, and she did it! I figure
I (somehow) inadvertently tapped into her commune with the Mothership. It
was too cute and earned her a (bare) belly rub ;)

Yes you were. ;)
Seriously, I find that Stinky often "orients" with me when we are
relaxing together-- he roughly approximates or mirrors my position.
When I lie down, he is always right there-- it is like an invitation
to cuddle. When I lie on my side, he will come and either mirror me--
i.e. lie down facing me, and give me gooshy eyes and blinks ;)-- or
he will cuddle into my tummy with his back. Cats do this stuff with
each other, if you watch them.
And Kitty Blinks are famous. They are like distance-kisses. ;)

It's moments like that remind us how precious they are. :-)

I also find that certain types of attention will make Betty roll over.
A poster here mentioned a few years ago that she was struck by how her
cat readily tells the difference between being talked to, and talked
about. They seem to pick up on that sort of thing very readily.

Yup. Cats came to earth to teach humans about a whole new dimension of love.
=o) And they stayed for the tummy rubs. Isadora and I used to have entire
conversations. She had a rather funny, truncated little mew that sounded
like "Mee'ee" with a definite break in the middle and the second "ee"
higher pitched than the first part. I'd repeat "Mee'ee" back to her,
mimicking her inflection as closely as I could. I could tell she would get
puzzled that I just kept repeating what she'd said back to her without
adding anything original. Or else she was just trying to be my diction
coach.
