Nermallee going to RB

Poor Mom is taking Nermal in to be put to sleep this morning. I feel so bad
for her, but I agree it is probably time. So at 11:45 am Mountain time she
has an appointment. She took Nermallee for an ultrasound yesterday because
she has acted so uncomfortable lately.  they found some kind of big cyst
(ping pong ball sized) by her stomach which they did drain but she is just
skin and bones and last night she was up all night making noise, she can't
get comfortable and she can't keep food down. She is 16 and 1/2 and while
the vet said they could try to operate to explore what is going on, but with
her heart and she is so frail I do not think she would make it (I don't
think the vet thinks so either, she only weighs about 5 lbs.). Poor Mom
though is of course very upset. She keeps saying "she's so pretty" but she
can't stand seeing her so uncomfortable and meowing and meowing or cleaning
and cleaning incessantly like she is trying to comfort herself.  So any
prayers you can say for my mom (who is not feeling at all well right now
either) would be appreciated and purrs for Nermallee to have a very peaceful
passing with no complications. I just pray it is easy so that Mom can have
no regrets. She still frets over having Amigo in surgery when there ended up
being nothing they could do. Just a really rotten day for chez Chuplis. My
sister is coming to visit which I was excited about and now I am just so sad
for mom. Well, I know this is meandering but I knew this decision would have
to be made soon and I'm just sad for mom.

Oh, Karen I'm so sorry. Purrs for your mom and for peace in her heart about
poor Nermalee. Sixteen is a good, ripe old age, a long time to have such a good
life that she had with your mom. But it's still hard.
Do you live pretty far from your mom?

Oh no. You already know this, but be sure to give your mom lots of phone calls
and just as much support as if Nermalee was a child. You know how we cat people
are. Those Other Kind of People don't understand like we do.

I'm so sorry to hear about Nermal. But, as we all know, it's an act of
kindness, that hurts the people that love Nermal the most.

Purrs for Nermal, all the people who love her. Although it's dreadfully
hot here, I will light a candle tonight, in my very special sleeping
kitty candle holder, (and put it in the front porch window!), for Nermal

I'm so sorry to hear this, Karen, but it does sound like the kindest thing
to do for Nermallee right now. Lots of purrs coming over for your mother,
for Nermallee, and for yourself.

I wish them both well. Goodbye dear precious Nermalee.

Thank you everyone. Mom reports that Nermal went peacefully, but she is
still pretty broken up. Speaking further to the vet there were more
unidentified masses throughout her torso. I'm certain she did the right
thing and so is she, but she is pretty broken up. I will make sure she knows
you are all thinking of her.

Give her our love and understanding.  Make sure she understands what a kind
and selfless thing it was to spare Nermal any more misery.  As someone who
has been there,  it is so hard to do.  And so right.

I went through this when I lost my old cat Scamper. She had been losing
weight, and when I got her into the vet, she was noticibly jaunticed
(my house has yellow-ish lighting, so we hadn't noticed).  The
ultrasound showed several masses on her liver, pancreas, and kidneys,
including one that was obstructing the bile ducts. According to the
vet, there was nothing that could be done.  Sending her to the RB was
absolutely the hardest thing I had to do, but it was something that I
HAD to do.  She was a good kitty and didn't deserve to suffer.  I'm
sure your Mom made the right descision.

My mom emailed today that it rained all day. She ended the letter: "Seems as
though the sky is weeping for my Nermalee with me."

It makes me cry just to read it and yet it is such a beautiful thought.
Tomorrow I will put everyones wishes together and send them to her.

I am really sorry to read about this - I know how much your mom loved
Nermallee.  We will light a candle for her, and Ozzy and Tiger send
purrs to your mom and to you.

Oh Karen I'm so sorry to hear that - I hope your mom can take comfort
in that fact that she gave Nermal a long and happy life.  I know how
hard it is to say goodbye to a dear friend - I'm sure Percy will be at
the RB to welcome Nemal to a place with no pain, lots of lively mice
and much, much love and scritches.

I'm very sorry for your mother's loss, Karen.  This  has been a tough week
for cat losses!  I hope Nermallee's crossing was peaceful and easy and that
she was able to send Nermallee onward with her familiar voice and touch
until the very last moment.  But it doesn't help much when you walk out of
