I wouldn't mention the great actor's death here, except for that one
of his most famous scenes, one from "The Godfather," was done with a
tabby kitten tumbling around in his lap-- and he was tickling the
little thing with the sure, practiced touch of a real cat person.
RIP.

According to IMDB, the cat was a stray that was found by Marlon
Brando.  Here's the text from the site:

The cat held by Marlon Brando in the opening scene was a stray the
actor found while on the lot at Paramount, and was not originally
called for in the script. So content was the cat that its purring
muffled some of Brando's dialogue, and, as a result, most of his lines
had to be looped.

Nothing wrong with a cute cat stealing the lines :)  Nor the actor scooping
up a cat to use as a 'prop'.  It worked.

LOL. As if his lines were that audible in the first place. I wonder if he
kept the cat?

I didn't know he had died. RIP Mr Brando.

I was very sad to hear this news.  I know it's silly, but, having
named my rescued feral cat Brando (because he looked like Brando at
the end of "On the Waterfront", and later looked like Brando later in
life - umm, a bit too hefty), it seemed like a bad omen.  I know I
can't think like that, but I couldn't help it.  On the good side, at
least I guess I won't be sued now for ripping off his name for my cat
;-)

Rest in Peace, MB -- you were a great actor.

and Brando sends purrs, too

And if he had known, he very well might have-- a lot of sources are
reporting the poor man was very broke at the end.,

Definitely--  it is a measure of how great he was that he could have
left behind the body of work he did, and people are still
editorializing everywhere that his death at 80 is tragic, and he
wasted his talents.  So many actors would go through hell and worse to
have the parts he had, and created the indelible characters he did.
