Sily died 27th June 2002 so this week it had been 2 years without her.
Mistoffelees has been a very narky and strange boy this week. he has fought
and tried to bite Grizzy for no reason and he has been very very clingy when
i am around. Can he understand it is an anniversary of her death? They
suffered wach other when she was around but mistoffelees was her companion
of 9 months. He arrived when it was thought Silky wouldnt last too much
longer as she ws deaf and going blind but with his help she survived a while
before i had to make the decision we all dread.

I vowed never to replace her till mistofflees went as he was not too
sociable but after six weeks of him crying all night i gave in and got
Grizzy who he took to in 24 hours. But his week has been a major problem and
i am kinda frightened of what might happen when i am out. Can i just assume
he is missing his friend. he shows no signs of being unwell.

It's so hard to know what goes on in their fuzzy little heads. There might
be a smell around this time of year, for example, which reminds him of
Silky. Maybe it would be better to have him checked out, just in case. It
could be a sign of some illness. When Nikki developed hyperthyroidism, and
before she was diagnosed and medicated, she became very clingy and needy.

I would have him checked just in case. We can never know of course, but it
is better safe than sorry, right?

Who knows what a cats sense of time is? It's possible he is aware of it
about I doubt it. I think that he needs a check up with your vet. I
think he is showing you the only way he can that something is wrong.  Of
course it could be other things in his environment. Perhaps a cat coming
by outside into HIS territory? Good luck. Hopefully it turns out to be
nothing or at least nothing serious anyway.
