Okay, this Sunday on the good ole Fourth of July I will do my first sprint
triathlon. I am ready! I have really been working hard toward this goal but it
definitely has cut into my online time. (that I don't like, I miss being able
to read and post). I am very confident in my swimming. I have been swimming 2
miles a pop 3 times a week with lot's of interval training. I only need to swim
800 meters. I can ride my bike pretty speedy, I have been doing that 3 times a
week for 25 to 30 miles distances, intervals and hill repeats. I only have to
ride 12 miles on a very flat course. Running.... I suck. I can run/walk a 12
minute mile and that's just gonna have to do. I only have to do that for 3
miles. Now I get to do them all one right after the other. Swim, bike, run.
No problem! :) They hardest transition is from bike to run. Your legs feel
like dead logs, they just don't want to move. If I can improve my running then
I can progress to an Olympic distance, then a half ironman, then.....uh uh, NO
ironman, that's just wrong! That's for crazy people! LOL. So hopefully I
won't drown, wreck my bike or blow out a hip!
The Zig and Zo are getting big. I have been taking lots of pics and they are
just too goofy for words. They are both so affectionate and lovable. They
sleep in the crook of my neck (yes both of them) every night. Zoey nibbles my
chin with her sharp teeth and Ziggy licks the inside of my nostrils. It's
heaven! I will soon have time to post and play on the froup. My next race
isn't until October 16. Ziggy is sitting in my lap as I type. He is a purring
ball of furr. Skinny and lanky and very muscular. He likes to sit on my lap all
the time. Zoey likes to chase the arrow on the screen and any animations that
are flickering. So I have to put her on the ground a lot. I don't know how many
times I have to tell her that her mother was NOT a glass blower. I can't see a
damn thing. :)

Good luck!!!! You must be a tad nervous. Keep us posted! Have you posted
kitty pics yet, BTW?

I'm impressed that you're doing this, TJ! You're a winner in my book,
wherever you place. However, I hope you go home with a trophy, medal,
or ribbon - whatever is awarded for this event.

I'm supposed to go to a conference in Tempe (Buttes Resort) in late
September. How far is that from you? I would *love* to drop by and meet
the Z's... :)

That's so cool that you're training for this, TJ. You'll do great in the
race, I can't wait to hear about it :-) The Z's sound adorable, it will be
nice to hear more about them when you get more time to be online.

LOL. Around here it's "Was your father a glazier? Then why are you a
pane?" ;)
It's also nice that they share you so well. ;)

When you mentioned this a while ago, I thought you were going to do
the one that involves the full marathon and everything, and I though,
"Well, there you go, Teej has just gone off the deep end." :) Now
that you've told us that it's the fractional triathalon... I still
think it's crazy. ;) You should be proud no matter what place you
get!

Good luck for Sunday. I'll be thinking of you.
Nathan has a time trial tomorrow - it's his first proper one since he came off
whilst on target for a personal best.

Thanks everyone for the good luck purrs for my race. It starts at 5:45am
tomorrow. It's supposed to be 106 tomorrow so we can be done well before it
gets scorchy hot. I am not nervous. I am doing this for fun. If it's not fun
then what's the point. I have joined a women's triathlon group and it's become
a very social thing to. DH is into it as well so we can train together. My
daughter is even training for the kids tri next year. It's like with Helen S.,
the whole family can do something together and that's a wonderful thing.
I am hoping to complete my 1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 3 mile run in 1hour
45 minutes (or less). If not then who cares. There is a great saying that I
keep in mind every day. "Even if you come in last you still came in before
everyone that didn't "tri" at all." Again, I am sure all your good thoughts and
purrs will pull me through with grace (ha!) and ease!

TJ, I'm sorry, but this is just insane. I do, however, have Oz and
Tiger sending out good-luck purrs for you, since you are determined to
get up way too early and go out exercising when it's way too hot.

Hmm... with a slight modification, back to the original I suspect, that
saying makes a good tag line so I've stolen it to add to my collection.
Oh, and good luck! ;-)
