Figured it would be wet again today, so I stayed up late last night.
When I finally went to bed I had to nudge Rocky over a little, since
he's a believer in sleeping sprawled out right in the middle of the
bed. The girls followed me in to the bedroom, and Sammy jumped up for
her nightly before sleep rubdown while LB took up her regular spot on
the bookcase.

About three I woke to find Sammy crawling under the covers as a storm
was coming through (Awoke this morning to find over an inch and a half
in the rain gauge.) I just told her it was ok and went back to sleep.
Then about five I awoke to find myself pinned between Rocky on one
side and Sam still under the covers on the other. I managed to turn
over enough so that I could straighten my arm, which I was laying on.
At seven I awoke when Sammy decided it was time to get up. I was
laying on my arm again, and this time had a stiff neck. LB had decided
to join us and had taken over the pillow.

Aw, it's nice to have everyone join me, but at the same time I'm kind
of glad they usually take turns instead of gaining up.

My crew seems very "summer concious". While all three want to cuddle all
night in the winter, as soon as spring hit, Grant now sleeps in the
catnapper on the window and Pearl and Sugar sleep with me but not pressing
on me. It's not like I don't have air. Really the temperature inside is no
different than in the winter, but it sure seems "seasonal".

One warm night a couple of weeks ago I was pinned on both sides, that
was a restless night.

Fortunately the girls have changed their schedule too. Smokey has taken
to the couch and Cali has stopped her armpit snuggling. She's content
to lay off to one side with my hand on her tummy. Although she's
staying longer now, as their is no Smokey smell to annoy her.

Speaking of armpit snuggling: I normally wear a T-shirt to bed, but it
was just too hot a couple of weeks ago. So Smokey decided I need an
underarm cleaning, which wasn't too bad until she decided I needed some
spot remover. Yow, those little teeth are sharp. :)

You have it easy :) Try being a 100lb. person with a 20lb cat that
likes to sleep on your chest - its all I can do to breath at night.
And if I dare move his highness Simba, he moves up to my pillow and
starts pulling my hair!  Not the nice kneading paws motion, but a very
nasty kicking and pulling motion with all 4 feet on the back of my
head.  Usually I just give up and let him sleep on my chest.  Pepper,
being the good little boy that he is, just sleeps up against my legs.
At least they keep me warm at night!

Yah!  I have a cat that is 1/20th my mass.  I don't think I could
sleep with a cat 1/5th my weight on top of me!

Does it matter how heavy you are? I would imagine a 20lb weight on anyone
would make it hard for that person to breathe, no matter what they weigh.

And Simba just keeps getting bigger!  I don't tend to worry too much
about his weight because it's all muscle, but at this point he is
almost twice as big as Pepper.  However, I do suspect that he likes to
lay on my chest in hopes it will kill me one of these days, and then
he will have my Significant Other all to himself.  Occasionally I will
wake up with him on my chest, one paw over my mouth and one paw over
my nose (attempted suffocation?).  We got Simba to be my cat, but he
has chosen my SO as HIS PERSON!  If I even dare cuddle SO I get the
look of death and even a swat from Simba's paw. I guess he figures if
I am out of the way then he can have all my SO's attention!  And for
someone who never wanted a cat, SO sure does spoil Simba.  Not many
other cats get hand fed bits of T-bone steak.

LOL! What a situation you have there. I would be afraid, very afraid, to go
asleep.  ;o)

If he likes to sleep on your chest, that must mean that he loves you,
too!  BTW, have you noticed that their paws can be *hot* when they
touch you with them?  Cat body temperature seems to be quite a bit
higher than ours.

It is - their normal temp is closer 101 degrees (F).

You sound like a friend of mine with 4 poodles, 2 of those standard
poodles. But her 4 insist on sleeping all night on her bed. I told
her she needs to get a bunk bed and take the top.  That wouldn't help
with your gang though. :)
