Sorry to piggyback, I didn't see the OP.
That picture is a stitch. I think this is actually an experiment in the works
on how to effectively transfer the maximum number of cat hairs to the maximum
pieces of wardrobe. Looks like somebody's going to have a whole week's worth of
hairy slacks.

One thing I noticed is that there's a blue-green rope hanging down from
the (very messy) upper shelf, the ends of which are located conveniently
by the cat's mouth and front paw. I *wonder* how it got like that...? :)

Actually, it doesn't look that uncomfortable to me. The pants are all
crammed together, so they probably make a fairly soft, if ripply bed.
A lot better than some places I've seen cats napping!
What I can't understand is how the cat actually *got* there. It must
have been a precarious journey!
The friend who send me this picture said that if any non-cat lover
were to ask her why she loves cats so much, she would just wordlessly
hand them that picture. "It's just so *cat*," she'd explain. It pretty
much sums up the essential catness of a cat, doesn't it?

For more pictures of cat-ness there's a book of photos edited by Peter
Fincham called "Cat Chat".

If you manage to google for the book you might get to see a picture of
the front cover. That'll be all you need to see to start you looking
for a source for the book.

It looks a lot more comfortable than the favorite sleeping place of a
family cat when I was a child. We had a house with
hot-water-radiator heat, and, during the summer, when the radiators
were cool, our tomcat liked to sleep on top of them. The corrugated
shape of a radiator doesn't look like it would be comfortable at all.

I had that kind of radioators in my old flat. Both Frank and Nikki would
sleep on them in winter *when the radiators were hot*. At one point or
another, a very hot cat would come shooting out from under the window and
melt out on the floor to cool off.

My parents had a cat for 15 years who liked to sleep in front of
their wood stove in the winter. My father ran the stove fairly hot,
and the cat would sometimes sleep so close that we would start
smelling scorching fur. Apparently, the fur insulated against
radiant heat well enough that she could sleep at a distance from the
stove that was uncomfortably hot for a human's exposed skin.
