I've been unemployed for 2 months now, and had my first interview on Thursday. I'm really interested in the job I interviewed for, it's back in my old area of expertise and would be a *lot* more interesting than my last job (programmer). Seems to me quite a few people on this group are out of work, and quite a few I encounter at meetings of some of the organizations I belong to, also. I find the blethering helps a lot ;) Funny, I got an email yesterday from a man I worked with about 5 years ago. He has a position open and someone I used to work with had applied. He wanted to to give him a recommendation (or not). Unfortunately, the man who applied for this job was a major slacker and I couldn't recommend him. The best thing I could say about him was he was personable, and if anyone had free food or a pot luck going in another department he'd sniff it out and manage to eat for free. I was like, George, if you're hiring, why aren't you asking ME to apply? I helped you design the parameter screens for the GUI version of the software. You know we can work together! Yeah, I've noticed there are a lot of us in the same boat. I just hope the boat isn't sinking (teasing). Seriously, purrs that we all get to live in the style to which we are at least accostumed. I'd hate to think of having to add the stress of moving to a cheaper place on top of everything else. Moving is no fun and I've been in this apartment 8 years and am rather fond of it.
