Thank you all for your kind words; they have meant a lot to my DH and
me. We still can't quite believe our Mikey's gone. We will
eventually get used to walking around the house without looking where
we're going, wearing clothes not covered with white hairs, and turning
into the driveway without looking for a furry face in the window, but
it's going to be a long time before we don't feel an emptiness in the
house and a hole in our hearts. Knowing you all care and understand
has made this loss easier to bear.

I imagined so, that life after Mike is very different. Loving kitty,
only baby. Pink-bellied angel, finding he can see again.

That is the nicest thought. Mikey can see and is no longer confused. I
really feel for you Kristi and am teary all over again.

Krista,
Just one thought, the love goes on! I missed Isadora terribly, and kept
imagining I saw her little black and white face all over the apartment
after I put her to sleep. Of course, I still had Pan, who behaved like a
grief counselor in a cat suit. He was my greatest comfort in the sad days
after we first lost Izzy.
But after a suitable period, I found myself at the animal shelter and now I
have Cesca to greet me when I get home from work. Not to mention TK! I'm
not saying you should rush down to the shelter now. It's entirely natural
and normal that you should both mourn Mike for a while. He was your
beloved and faithful companion for many years. But cat lovers NEED cats in
their lives. Mike can never be replaced, but he may have worthy successors.
In the meantime, I'm very sorry for your loss, as one who has also recently
lost a beloved cat.
Melissa
