Some may remember Clyde's adventure in the hot spa bath or even the
adventures of B & C when they went swimming in the washtub. I have a
new one.
DH is very careful when he cooks his poached eggs and always immediately
emmpties the pan after cooking. There is about an inch or more of
boiling water in the pan.
Yesterday he forgot. B & C were curled up neatly in their usual bookend
position in a chair in the lounge. Suddenly there was a terrible
scream. We dashed out to the kitchen.
Bonnie had jumped up on the stove, fair into the middle of the boiling
water!!! "But she was nowwhere in sight" wailed DH.
"I always put it away normally".
Bonnie has the ability to make you feel awful and guilty. She
kept shaking her paws and licking her pads. She kept jumping on me and
yowling something to the effect of "why are my paws hurting and why did
you do this to me!!"
I am happy to report that her pads seem fine this morning but we have
had the lesson reinforced. Never, ever, ever, leave boiling water
anywhere near a Burmese :(

Ouch, poor Bonnie!! Many purrs for her recovery. But I have a feeling it
will be awhile before she jumps up on the stove again!

What a little screwball. Purrs for her healing, and to never do that
again!

Purrs for Bonnie's paws as well as her dignity and gentle headbutts to
John. My crew say they're sure John is feeling worse than Bonnie did
over the whole affair.

Thank Bast she's OK, I've always dreaded the thought of spilling hot
liquids on a cat. Thankfully it's never happened to me but I once knew a
d-g who was scalded by hot fat, she had a patch on her back where the
fur never grew back.

I know what you mean Adrian, it has always been one of my worries too.
I have a friend who pulled the cord of a jug and poured boiling water on
herself when she was little. She is still badly scarred. Boiling
water is scary around kids and animals.

As someone who inadvertently dumped the contents of the spaghetti pan across
my left hand, it isn't just scary around kids and animals. It was bad, but
getting it into ice water immediately did cut down on the permanent damage.
Do you know how hard it is to sleep with one hand in a bowl of ice water?
(It was also the only thing that dulled the pain)

SHoot, doesn't even have to be boiling. My nephew got badly burned when he
was a toddler when he pulled my dad's coffee cup over on him. He had second
and third degree burns and had to get those treatments in the water and
everything. I'm sooooo glad Bonnie is OK. What a little heartattack maker!
