I just heard from Hopitus. She is in Denver with son and his family.
Hop sprained her knee and has been taking it easy. but she has an
apartment and all her household goods arrived. With her sore knee it
will be slow going getting sorted out.
The cats are fine, but Maluce is tired of being penned up and escapes
at any opportunity.
BT Rowdy flew on the plane with Hop. A tornado attacked the plane and
they had to set down at a small airport near Dallas and spend the
night at a motel. They flew in a very small plane the next day to
Denver. Ever since then BT Rowdy has been subdued. That storm must
have scared the cr*ap out of him!
I will keep us updated once she contacts me again. She is using her
DIL's pc and they don't do newsgroups.

I can sympathize with both moving [we head for Sacramento a week from
today] and physical woes [had a tooth pulled Thursday, I'm healing up
fine AFAICT, except for the gross-tasting area in my mouth :-)].

I sure hope your move goes smoothly. Where are you moving from? I hope
your extraction is fully healed by then. Many years ago I moved, with
a small child, in the winter, with a painful, broken wisdom tooth and
on crutches with a severe toe injury! It was NOT fun! Purrs for good
weather, too.

Ugh! OK, you've got me beat. I'm moving DH, cat, and bird about 350
miles, in summer [OK, so our destination gets HOT]. My mouth is
healing fine, and aside from a slightly sore neck [must have slept
funny] I have no other infirmities except for possible PMS. :-)
We're moving from Lompoc to Sacramento. We like Lompoc, but just can't
find adequate jobs here. Sacramento has a LOT more opportunity for us.

350 miles is summer in a desert area is miserable. Do you have A/C in
your vehicle? As for infirmities, PMS is a big one! Soothing, calming
and cool purrs for a good move. I hope Sacramento fills all your
expectations.

No, that's currently broken. We'll be taking the car [which I'll
probably be driving] and a moving truck [which DH will be driving].
The truck WILL have A/C, so Felix and Avery will be riding with Dad
this trip. :-)

We need it to do more for us than this area does, that's definite.

Well, it is important for the cats to be under A/C. But you can take a
cooler full of crushed ice and a washcloth in it to swab yourself down
when you get too hot. Have a safe trip and a great new-home-coming.

We only have one cat. Avery is a dove. :-)

Even more important they be under A/C. You wouldn't want roast bird!

Thank you for the update, Catherine. Send Hopitus our love if you e-mail

If it scared BT Rowdy, then there must have been quite a lot of turbulence
and movement of the plane. Otherwise, he wouldn't have known anything was
a miss. Must have been downright terrifying for the humans.
I had no idea that tornadoes could reach cruising altitude!
Glad everyone's OK and that they're settling down in their new digs.

Oh, yes! A towering thundercloud, regardless of a tornado in it, can
reach over 50,000 feet with powerful updrafts, and wind shear, and
violent lightening and hail. Pilots usually fly well outside the
boundaries of such a cloud. But sometimes wind shears in clear air and
updrafts can catch them and draw them in. I would be absolutely
terrified. Poor BT Rowdy. Blind and not knowing what the heck is
happening and confined in a cage. That would leave some trauma.
