Last night I went to a a board of directors meeting for the shelter held in the
home of another board member, a very distinguished gentleman who is a retired
corporate attorney. He had set a beautiful table, a formal dining room,
complete with a wonderful presentation of china & crystal. In the middle of
each plate set a dainty little salad plate with a fresh fruit salad topped with
cottage cheese. We were adjourning the meeting in the living room when all of
us looked over and saw Buddy, his Siamese, standing in a chair and  lapping up
the cottage cheese at one plate.
With perfect aplomb and grace, he scolded Buddy, then swept up Buddy's foiled
treat.
Then he switched it with the salad at the head of the table, where he intended
to sit.
Is this our kinda people or what??

What a wonderful dinner that must've been.  I guess that's to be
expected from animal lovers!  (Well, except maybe for me, because I
can't cook anything good, even though I love kitties.)

LOL, I have no doubt that you would. That's why you're our kinda people, too!
It's nice when you get a chance to socialize with people with whom you don't
have to worry about the furkids minding their "housecat manners."

Absolutely!  Except there's really no point in scolding the cat. :P

LOL, that part was for our benefit. We razzed him about it. We told him it was
the oldest trick in the book, fein shock when the cat gets on the table in
front of company. This cat is a classic brat Siamese, and it's pretty obvious
he *runs* the house. I'm guessing he not only gets on the table regularly, but
probably dances on it and sleeps on it too.

Wait a minute, are you implying that's not normal behaviour?

ROTFL, That was my first thought, but I guess tthe scolding was more
for the benefit of the guests.

So...did he eat the cottage cheese? Wouldn't bother me a bit! I have
shared my food with my cats licking off my spoon. ;-D

I've done so too in the past.  However my new kitten was recently
diagnosed with Giardia - an intestinal parasite - that I was informed
can be transmitted to humans and causes awful abdominal cramping,
vomiting and bloody diarrhrea (this was the day after I had allowed
her to lick my mouth is a kitty kiss!!!).  Giardia did not even slow
Sammy down (though she HATED the medicine she had to take twice a
day), but it's really hard on humans.  I was very lucky that I did not
get it from her.

So... be careful, especially if you have kittens or puppies (and those
of you who may have kids that like to share their ice cream with their
pets).

Hugs,

A house is not a home, without a cat.
