Heh. I used to baby sit a black cat JUST like that. He was HUGE. My voice
teacher said people often boggled when they saw him and thought she had a
wild cat (panther) for a pet. Just a big kitty.

Yeah, at 24lbs, he's a couple of pounds heavier than my Mojo, the vet
assistant called him a Puma :-)

I once visited a home with the biggest cats I have ever seen. They were
all rescues, not litter-mates, and not especially fat. Just enormous. A
young male cat I'd just adopted made an escape (sadly, permanently) by
knocking a screen out of the window, and I got a call in response to my
search from a man a fair distance away who'd just picked up an orange tom
that appeared to be a stray. He was much larger, tougher, and, ummm, more
mature than the missing cat, so it was immediately obvious he wasn't
mine, but the gentleman also introduced me to the other feline residents
and showed me how he'd set aside most of the attached garage for several
oversized but spotlessly maintained litter boxes for the herd of cats.
I think he must have just had a knack for rescuing large cats, or cats
which became large.

OMG, just like my cousin's gigantic black cat, Shadow. He's
definitely around that size. But he's painfully shy.

I don't understand how anyone could think a 22-lb cat was a panther. Don't
panthers (ie, leopards) weigh more like 100 lbs? There's no comparison!

The same way some drunk frat boys think a Great Dane running through a
yard is a lion. :P
