All four are doing fine - but we are still battling that nasty ringworm. I
had a spot of it on my neck, but a few days treatment with Lamisil AT seems
to have gotten rid of it (at first it didn't seem to be working, but then I
covered it with a band-aid (it was a fairly small spot) to a) keep me from
scratching it and b) keep the cream from drying out so quickly, and that
helped tremendously! - Sure wish I cold use that stuff on the FF, but no way
would they keep a band-aid on themselves, plus that cream would probably
make them sick). So TED gave us some sulfur-lyme dip (spray actually) and I
have seriously offended all four of them by BATHING them (that's what the
directions called for)! And then I sprayed them with that stuff, working it
into their fur, paying special attention to the parts that were already
'infected'. Eenie was the first one to completely forgive me, by curling up
on my chest as I was reading, and purring loudly. He was almost completely
dry, but still smelled like the stuff (I guess that's a good thing, means
it's still on them, but this stuff doesn't smell like the rotten eggs that
it usually does, the bottle says 'fresh orange scent' on it, but it doesn't
smell like oranges either).
As for that horrible bathing incident, I did NOT come out of it unscathed:
Minnie left a good 3-4 inch scratch on my left wrist... anyone ever consider
suicide by giving a cat/kitten a bath? For such a small critter, she sure
drew some blood! I also got thoroughly soaked! Does anyone know exactly
how much water a wet kittens fur can retain from the tub to the towel????
It's a LOT! DH & I were at the local shopper's club (Sam's Club for those
of you in the US) and they sell packages of 8 of inexpensive white towels,
washcloths & the like (for hotels, probably) - DH wanted to get the smaller
hand towel size, but I said no - get the bath towel size! I'm glad I
persisted! I would have used all 8 in the package for one kitten!!!!
Out of all four, Moe was the most behaved during her bath, only squirming a
little bit. Eenie screamed like a sissy-boy, Minnie scratched me really
good, and Meanie TRIED to scratch me, but I avoided her claws ;)
On another note, Weeble is interacting with them more & more (please purr
that he doesn't get that nasty ringworm - I don't relish bathing HIM!!!!!
it's one thing to do a kitten you can hold with one hand - but a full blown
CAT?!), actually letting Minnie 'attack' him and let her try to get the
'choke hold' on him, then pushed her away and then they chased each other
(which gets the others involved in that chase game too - Weeble lets them
chase him around, then jumps up on the couch & the run past him, stop and
look around with that 'where'd he go' look on his face, he watches them for
a few moments, then jumps down and the game continues)

Something that has been used successfully for ringworm here, is a double
dose of program injectable. (So two shots instead of one). it's
apparently very effective. Also, when HRFL Tiger had ringwornm on his
ears as a kitten, the vet suggested that I use canaesten cream as a
topical application as well as the grusifulvin tablets. He only licked
it off once - no harm was done, and presumably it tasted so foul he
never wanted to do it again!

Our vet mentioned that, but they no longer carry Program. Very few vets
around here do. I figured we'd try the spray a while, then try the Program
(our vet did call around & found one in town that does carry it, and they
will sell to us if our vet sends us over there).

aw, you are such a good Meowmie. Are you still trying to home them or are
you keeping them? How's Weebles taking the whole thing? God bless your
heart, and your DH's too.

I've put up a flier at *our* vet's office, and the tech's there are asking
around, but DH wants to keep Meanie, I want to keep all of them <BG>. I
guess that means that it won't break our hearts if they *don't* find new
homes ;) Of course, they won't be re-homed until *after* that nasty
ringworm is conquered, so we are waiting for that until we post more fliers
at different vets & at the shelter!
Weeble is getting more & more interested in them, and we caught Lizzie
playing with one of them the other day - she was up on the mini-tower by
the window, one of them was on the lower level, and they were playfully
swatting at each other (no claws). Lizzie used to play with Weeble the same
way, so we're making progress, especially since I saw her stalking/chasing
them earlier today.

hmmm, seems that one of the recommendations sometimes made in the
gardening groups for keeping cats out of a garden is citrus peels -
maybe it's a good thing it doesn't really smell like oranges

aww Moe should get some extra loving for being so good

good for Weeble - though you may have to get him his own kitten when
the FF find their forever homes - or maybe keep one of the FF... or
2... or 3... heck maybe keep all four

It sounds like a lot of fun going on at your place right now. Wish I could
watch, too.
