A soggy Tuesday

Unseasonal gales & heavy rain all day today (look out Helen in
Norfolk, it's on its way) so I'm having to cope with 3 miserable
felines.

Bandit, who goes out freely during the day, is constantly coming to
collect me to open 1st the back door then the front door to see which
one leads to summer. Then of course he shrinks back in horror at The
Wet arriving on his enquiring whiskers & head, glares at me accusingly
& goes off to wait for half an hour & try again. The fact that he can
see & hear the downpour & wind from/through the windows doesn't seem
to matter.

Snowball the hoolikitten just mopes around howling a lot in between
bouts of frantic galloping round/though the house. He so enjoys his
spells on his lead & harness in both front & back yards that he's
clearly most upset.

Pericles just sits around in a stately fashion, but there's a sad
reproach in his eyes that he, too, can't be free to enjoy The Out, and
why can't I fix it for him. I feel so bad on his behalf :-(

In between times they're eating, peeing & pooping a lot, so extra
chores for me.

On a happier note, on Sunday afternoon I was watching the Indianapolis
GP from bed (I have a bad back & lie around a lot) when 1st Bandit
arrived to snuggle up beside my tummy, 2nd Snowball arrived soon after
to snuggle up above him beside my chest, then came Pericles who, most
unusually, snuggled down beside my pillowed head, right next to
Snowball, and instead of giving S the customary warning cuff to keep
his distance he gave his head a few licks. Perhaps when S eventually
settles down to adult behaviour (and at 15 months now he shouldn't be
long) they'll all get along fine. Quite encouraging.

Purrs to all

Gordon (the poopscooping pro)
Bandit, Pericles & Snowball (the disgruntled foiled adventurers)

Nanki Poo just brings in frogs - and sopping fur.

Nikki loves the rain. Apparently, voles come out of their holes when it
rains, and being the experienced huntress that she is, Nikki knows this.
When we are out on the island, she will run out purring the moment it starts
to rain.

It's funny the things that make Nikki purr - boxes, and now rain?

I've never seen a frog with fur. ;-)

That sounds like very good progress. Congratulations!

Back to normal for "Outies" today, thank goodness, but they're not at
all keen on the still-high winds. Pericles still had his doleful look
on while sheltering under a big bush.

Thanks for the congrats, but I fear they're premature. While waiting
for their fishy treat (over half a kilo between the 3) this evening
Snowball faced up to Pericles right through a battery of biffs and
hiss-spits (never any extended claws though) and got right into his
face until Peri's nerve failed him and he ran away! It's good of him
not to use his big size advantage, though, so I'm still optimistic.

How long to the great Island getaway? I'll bet you can hardly wait

Purrs, especially for your teeth.

Aww, I know that look. Frank can't stand high winds at all.

Hopefully they are just working out their pecking order.

We go tomorrow! I have to come back on Sunday, but the cats get to stay for
at least five weeks.

Thank you, much appreciated.

We've got the wind - but not gale force yet. No rain, but the sky looks
threatening.

My three make me laugh when the weather is raining so they can't go out.
They'll howl at a door to go out and when I open it, usually with me saying,
"Look, you stupid felines, it's wet, and it's not good for cats to go out in
this, but if you don't believe me." I get, of course, the Feline Look Of Death
when they see the inclement weather, as it is obviously all my fault that it's
foul out there and they decide they shan't go out after all. Except that they
then set off for a difference external door and start howling to go out there.
So we go through the ritual again, and the Feline Look Of Death aimed at me is
even more intesne when they see the weather of The Out from this door is
exactly the same as the weather in The Out from the other door...

Cheers, helen s

Strange.  All our cats, not just the current ones, have always enjoyed
rain, and drying themselves on humans.

Nikki does that, too.

When it started snowing, Stinky used to run from window to window to
see if it was doing it out all the windows.  Mimi would just look at
him like, "You yokel."
