I said pet me!!!

Today I wanted to read my book peacefully, so I sneaked into the guest
bedroom (which we usually keep with a closed door to avoid having pounds
and pounds of cat hair accumulate there). I know nobody saw me, because
I was able to read alone for a good half an hour. Then I heard someone
scratching at the door and calling for me. How Rufous figured out I was
in there is a mystery. But I let him in anyway.
He wanted to be petted, as usual. I was lying on my belly, reading my
book, so I gave him some scritches with my right hand. If I stopped, he
would nudge his head against my hand, like all cats do when they want
more scritches. But he did something I'd never seen before. He grabbed
my hand with his paw (claws extended, for good grip) and pulled it
towareds his head!!! It's like he was saying: 'I said pet me, daddy!'...
I obligued. :)

Of course you obliged. You're a good slave! The hardest thing to do for me is
balance my checkbook/pay bills at the table.  The cats always decide to jump up
and want to be petted right then, always.

You're lucky you weren't trying to save the world from exploding
rubber balls!

LOL! Aww, give him a scritch from me, too.

How sweet! He learned a new trick and will now practice it frequently
since it was so successful! My Djoser does this trick, also.

Every time I pass near Eli, he sticks out a paw and snags whatever part of
me he can catch. My only protection is to anticipate the request and deliver
the pet *before* he asks for it.

Awww!  I'm glad he got all the scritches he so obviously deserved.  ;-)

Awwwww. <G> I recognize that feline mood SOO well! Won't take no for an
answer.   My favorite time to read is just before I go to sleep at night.
That is also Pan's signal to come and plop his head on my book and to fling
a forepaw over the page I'm trying to read.  Pan clearly does not get why I
would want to look at little squiggly black lines on a page when he is
obviously more beautiful, entertaining and loveable. =o)
