I thought our little family was complete. Then my "adopted" daughter
(long story) called.
Vicki: Wanna hear a sad story?
Renee: No, I can't. Dont ask me.
Vicki: You really must hear this.
Renee: No, no, no! Please!
This went on for about ten minutes. I won't take your valuable time
repeating it word for word.
Finally, though, I ended up whispering "Yes. Bring him out."
And that is how I ended up with a small tuxedo male furperson in my
bedroom last night.
The help I need from you is in naming a boy cat with a very aggressive
personality. Five weeks old. He has fleas and worms. He doesn't
much like TED. In fact, he doesn't much like me at the moment.
Oh, well -- tomorrow has got to be better!
Any suggestions?

Aaawww, poor little guy must be miserable with the worms and fleas and visit
to TED. You are so kind to take him in.

Aw, Renee, you're such a kind heart. I'm thinking "Percy" the nickname for
The Scarlet Pimpernel -- don't ask me why; just popped into my head!

Hi Renee!
I have a tiny tuxedo who is fiesty as all he** get out. He spit at me the
first time I picked him up not long after he was born, and he still spits at
me occasionally even at the age of 4 weeks. (Got to keep me in line, I
guess!) Anyway, I named him Elliot Spitzer, after NY's attorney general, and
he definitely lives up to his last name!
Have fun naming the baby!

I like "Percy"!! We named one of the foster kittens that, except we spelled it
"Purrcy."

Hmmm. Maybe even "Blakeney" then. It would be one weird cat that
would remind someone of the Scarlet Pimpernel. :)

Since Joyce ended up naming her Californian tuxedo boy Licorice, I'll
just have to try again and recommend that you name your kitten after
late former President Ronald Reagan. :)

Especially since, as Tak well knows, Joyce would never dream of cursing -
er, I mean naming - any cat in such a way!

Aw, he's probably just uncomfortable with the fleas and worms. Call him
Angelo, and maybe he will become an angelic cat.

Well, "Rocky" comes to mind (the movie was on cable last night), but
almost any well-known wrestler's or prize-fighter's name should be
appropriate. (On the other hand, maybe you want to name hime something
gentle and peaceful, and hope it influences his behaviour?)

Honestly, he sounds like my Mike, so that's what I'd suggest. It
seems to suit a little tough guy like you've got there (and I've got
here). :-)

Aawww, poor baby. I'm sure he gets less aggressive once the fleas and
worms are off and out.
And about the name... having a tuxedo and all, how about Ritz as in
"Putting on the Ritz"?? He could be nicknamed Ritzy-boy or Rizzo or
whatever.

This is sounding *very* familiar! I went though the same thing last fall
when I decided to keep my black & white tuxedo boy. In fact, I asked
this NG for suggestions of names that in some way conjured up an image
of an elegant, nattily dressed, classy gentleman from 1940s Hollywood.
I got LOTS of suggestions! And ended up not using any of them, even
though many were quite wonderful. I eventually named my cat Licorice, at
a friend's suggestion. It really suits him, and I get to call him "Licky"
or "Licky Boy" as nicknames.
Here are the suggestions I got for names:
Fred Astaire
Cary Grant
Rock Hudson
Gary Cooper
Errol Flynn
Dean Martin
David Niven
Sean Connery
Basil
Jason
Humphrey Bogart, Bogie
Spencer (Tracey) (Spence)
Ritz, Ritzy
Rudy
Valentino
Winston
Charles
Tux
Topper
Remington (Remy)
Mysterio
Mystic
Black Magic
Dracula
Bela (Lugosi)
Bosley
Spatz
Sir Lawrence
Percival (Percy)

Thanks for your impressve suggestions! We're still laughing! Several
of them do indeed fit the little guy. We haven't yet asked for his
opinion, but we will -- cats are very intelligent, you know!
I'll think about it after I get some sleep - he played ALL NIGHT!
