This past Thursday as I was coming back here(far North Dallas/Collin County)
via Hwy 380...a coyote ran across my path in hot pursuit of what appeared to
be a fat cat....I screeched my car to a halt.... grabbed my flashlight and
gave chase...long story short...I ran the coyote off...rescued said "fat
cat" who was cowering in a muddy pipe...Alas, "Fat Cat" wasn't fat just
verrrry pregnant ... a victim of man's typical attitude of ..."it's
inconvenient...not my problem...I'll just put out "The
Trash"...GRRRRRRR$#@@##@$.

Once arriving back at the house "Fat Cat" managed to escape from my
clutches(having regained her breath...and headed for the bushes)..Leap
forward until Sunday...when FINALLY, I found her! and her kittens(I guess
her coyote ordeal brought on labor)Sadly, a tomcat had found her kittens
first:-( and had killed 4 of the six little ones...Damn! that hurt!(here I
save FC and then most of her babies get killed....sighhhh) I snatched up
FC... now dubbed ...Babe(DH calls her Bubbette) and the 2 newborns(one solid
blk with a tiny dot of white under it's chin/male) and one white, Siamese by
look/female)(name hints????) and brought them to safety..inside my enclosed
backporch....OK,...that brings me to my Help Needed...

As most of you know I travel for work A LOT, in 10 days I have to make a 700
mile trip (taking my kitties with me(those who travel with me and aren't
staying with the pet sitter in West Texas). I won't be able to leave Babe
and 'babettes" here as there's no one to take care of them and I can't
afford 2 pet sitters ...What the plan is..I'll transport them to West Texas
(to my other place)...and section off the enclosed porch for them
there....It's the Best plan I can come up with...OK...you've survived my
lead up?...... QUESTION....as they will be traveling with several other cats
in their respective cages...how is the best way to transport "Babe and "the
babettes"? Should I put the 2 wee ones, who will be only 2 weeks old in a
separate carrier in case "Babe" freaks or should I just put all 3 in a
larger carrier and drape a sheet over the carrier and keep them as far from
the other carriers as I can.....I'm REAL worried about their travel
safety...IMPUTE and PRAYERS PLEASE...as well as kitten name
suggestions...Thanks... :-) Liz

You most certainly have our prayers and lots of ourrs for all
concerned.  IMO the babes should be with their mother and the carrier
covered.  If the mother is Babe, how about Baboo for the black one and
Angel for the white one?  Wishing you good luck.   MLB

I don't have any suggestions but wanted to tell you I am *so glad* you helped
the poor little beggar. If she hadn't been killed by the coyote, she would have
had a bleak future. Bless you.

Purrs on the way. Perhaps you can get a foster home to take them in for
a few days?

That would be nice but this work trip could last 2-3 weeks...sighhhhhh and
so far ...I've not found anyone willing to foster them... be it a few days
or otherwise....Atleast with them situated in our other home...they will be
watched and will be out of harms way! Thanks for your impute, though... :-)

Hey Liz,

I know that area well. I live in Plano. I go fishing at Lowrey's
Crossing and grew up in Lucas. There are so many cats and dogs dumped
off in that are. It sucks. I got my Psycho kitty almost the same way. 13
years ago my brother was driving in Lucas and saw a tiny tiny black spot
in a ditch. As he got closer he could see it was a kitten. The poor
thing was all covered in fire ants. Someone had dumped her off. So my
brother picked her up and took her to a vet. I had just lost my cat
Scammer about 2 weeks earlier. Scammer had gone to the RB. After my
brother picked up the kitten from the vet he asked me if I wanted her. I
said yes in a heart beat and we have been together thru a lot in the
past 13 years. I am greatful that he found her.
I got off on a tangent here but I'll try and think of names. Have you
found homes for them yet? I already have 2 cats but I know someone who's
looking for one.

I asked around the area a bit about anyone wanting a kitten (for indoors
ONLY!)(too many coyotes, wildlife and dogs run in this area)but no one is
interested yet.....I'd like to find a good inside home for Babe(MOM)(she's a
small, about 9-10mth old lightly striped with big eyes and large cute
ears...) as well....I keep calling the blk male Harley as he's a fatboy...DH
doesn't like the name...best he's come up with is..Yen and Yang..Uck!...

Babe could get upset at the ride. I would put the kittens in a box
with cutouts inside Babe's cage so they could be together but safe
from accidents.

I don't know what to do about transportation, never having faced that
problem, but we are sending purs for mom and babies, and to you for
rescuing them.
