I care for two indoor only cats with free run of the house. They are
allowed to go anyplace inside EXCEPT the kitchen counter and stove
top. Well, as this is the place the "people food" appears from the
cats lounge on the counter anyway! Well, last night J. and I made a
mini-thanksgiving dinner: roasted turkey, all the sides and pie. We
both dished up, each taking one leg of the turkey and leaving the rest
in the pan on the counter. I really should know better! As we were
eating in the living room I noticed my little boy cat Pepper, but did
not see the 22lb. big Orange Cat Simba anywhere. Logically I figured
he was attempting to eat the just removed from the oven turkey on the
counter. Well, I go in to the kitchen to check and what do I find
the turkey looking COMPLETELY UNDISTURBED! Then I look closer and
notice
.the turkey has been completely skinned! The meat is just
fine, no teeth or claw marks, but the turkey is now naked utterly
skinless. And sitting next to the turkey on the counter is Simba,
with turkey skin hanging from his little orange face. I still can't
figure out how the little butt-head SKINNED the turkey  But I
did have my revenge, he spent the rest of the night in the litter box
thanks to all the turkey fat!

LOL! So, my question to you is did you go ahead and eat the rest of the
turkey meat? We probably would have. :-)

We certainly would have. I really do try to control how casual we get about
the animals after all these years. As it is I'm lucky to remember that it
isn't a good idea to feed the dog with the fork I'm using to eat dinner and
then continue to use it. I mean she licks my face and for that mater
usually sleeps with her butt in my face...
On those occasions when we have guests who might be appalled, we put the
dog and cats either outside on in our bedroom for the duration.
(Rare) overnight guests are warned to keep their bedroom door closed or to
expect furry visitors.

You know people who might be appalled? :-) I've noticed over the years
that most of those people have drifted out of my life (OK, ran
screaming) and everyone I know now would have this reaction if they
found animal hair in their food: "Wow! Extra Fiber!" :-)

I have a friend who likes to say, "In our house, cat hair is a condiment!"
Yeah, I don't have too many people left in my life who would be appalled
by cat hair, spit, etc.

I'm sure I've mentioned the dinner guest who found some cat hair in
his casserole. While I was embarrassed and apologizing, he just
smiled, put the hair off on the edge of his plate, and kept right on
eating [ate everything on his plate and IIRC even took seconds].

LOL. Secret ingredient, cat spit.
The real test of your insanity, though, is do you serve it to guests.

Well if I were her guest, I'd eat it and enjoy it. I hope Simba enjoyed
it to, what a good slave to cook him his own turkey.

Welcome to the group. Excellent story. Poor Simba, he was such a clever cat
and then he had to pay for it.

Thank you! I have tons more stories. And FYI, we made turkey soup
out of the leftovers! I really should not be surprised by Simba any
more that cat will do just about any thing for people food. His
favorite "food" is licking hot sauce directly from my fingers
he even
prefers it over ice cream go figure. That said, we do try and keep
the people food to a minimum.

I am always astonished by the hot-n-spicy things Stinky licks up
without batting an eye. He must be a Mexican, Indian or Szechuan cat.

Whoa! What an accomplishment! You really have to take your tinfoil

He is at it again! I took a batch of chocolate chip cookies out of
the oven and set them on the counter to cool. I put a few cookies on
a plate and went in to the living room to give J. some cookies. When
I came back there was one less cookie on the cookie sheet. As Simba
was sitting next to the cookies and liking his mouth I can only assume
he was the culprit. But I do suspect he shared the cookie with his
tuxedo tabby brother Pepper. I found something that suspiciously
resembled warm cookie dough on Peppers whiskers. :)

Hate to be a spoilsport, but chocolate's not good for them. I know as
catslaves, we tend to be amused rather than annoyed at these little
skills, but chocolate is a big nono. They can die from it (Dogs,
too). It's a shame; Stinky is drawn to the smell of chocolate like
almost nothing else. I have to be firm with him (and myself).

Believe me Simba and pepper do not get chocolate from me! Thank
goodness he only had one cookie, and I did watch to be sure it did
make him sick. As a side note, we have now instituted a rule that any
time we leave the kitchen all food is placed in the oven, fridge or
microwave. Until the boys figure out how to open kitchen appliances,
the food should be safe!

Someone in here discovered that her[?] cats were teaming up to open
the fridge. Can't remember who.
