Eenie is still the same little purrbag he was before, not much changed on
him.  They got their first shots on Friday, and TED asked me if I had heard
a couple of 'pops' in the middle of the night, and wondered what they were -
I said that *I* didn't hear them, that they just appeared there where they
weren't before, so now I've been calling him Eenie-boy.

Meanie is becoming quite the luv-bug, wanting to be held all the time (at
least when she's not eating, pooping/peeing or playing with her siblings).
Still has that ringworm and fusses whenever it's medication time.  She is
smaller than the others, DH was worried about that, but she's not
skinny-small (I can't feel any more bones on her than Eenie), she's just
going to be a little kitty.

Minnie is over her upset tummy - and is eating like there's no tomorrow,
even showing interest in what's on *my* plate, so much so that I've begun
calling her Minnie the Moocher.

Moe is still Moe - but getting a bit friendlier.  I have found a few spots
of that nasty ringworm on her, and as she doesn't like being held to begin
with, medicating her is NOT fun

All four of the Foursome are now on dry kitten kibble (started that when I
caught Minnie eating out of Lizzie's dish).

Weeble is still somewhat shy of the Foursome, but now he does let them chase
him (he likes being chased), and even chases them in return, but he doesn't
do any wresting with them - instead he attacks Tennessee (who needs the
exercise).

I did watch Lizzie interact with one of the Foursome the other day:  Lizzie
was eating peacefully from her dish, and one of the FF (don't remember which
one) was drinking from the Drinkwell fountain near her.  She stopped eating
at the same time the FF member stopped drinking and they looked at each
other, then the FF member stepped closer to Lizzie, and Lizzie raised a paw.
I was ready to interfere if I saw any claws appear on Lizzie, but she just
placed her paw on the kittens head, right between it's eyes, and gently
pushed it away.  It's like she knows that they're just babies and that she
*can* hurt them if she wanted to, but won't!

Wow, you have quite a household! The dynamics must be mind-boggling. Glad
to hear that Liz is able to defend her personal space without drawing blood!

Except for two things. :P

Aww, he just got tired of being called "she."  He had to *show* you
you were wrong. ;)

Funny that Meanie turned out to be a sweetie-- just like the
previously formidable Spitty. ;)

Excellent. ;)

Purrs for her to heal quickly.

Some do, some don't.  Mimi loved it, it was a major form of bonding
with her.  So do all the Fearsome Foursome give chase?  That could be
scaa--aaa-aaa-ry, kids. ;)

He's outnumbered! ;)

How cute!  Big "Awwwwwws" for your whole crew. ;)

It's amazing how some will come around and others just won't. I wonder how
Spitty, now that is macho cover has been blown, will feel about being called
Lovey.
I really enjoyed reading about Weeble's rescue and the photos of what a
beautiful cat he has become.  I also look forward to the updates on the
Fearsome Foursome. Talk about a house full activity!

I forgot to add in my previous post that the company came up with another
offer (basically the same, they just rearranged the $$) and it was voted on
yesterday afternoon - it was ratified by a vote of 528 for it and 410
against it.  Workers report back to their regular shift starting with the
midnight shift tonight.  DH is not a member of the union, but of the
salaried that have been working at the plant, a lot of them sleeping there
most nights, only coming home once or twice a week.  He said that the way
'some of those union people acted" (meaning with the violence at the
beginning of the strike and the continued racial slurs that were never
present before), he's not sure if he even wants to continue working there or
not.  Good thing he had a good job interview the Friday before all this
started (actually took a drug test, that is usually not until AFTER you've
been hired) - the bad thing is that he hasn't heard from them yet, but the
lady in HR is had been on vacation this past week.

I am so, so sorry to hear of the behavior of some union people.  My
family are all solid union people, and we believe that we should never
forget the reasons why we had a labor movement in the first place.
People who behave like this damage everyone, including -- especially--
their own unions.

Good luck to your husband, either at his current job or future position, if
he decides to make the move.

Good to hear that the strike is over, and soon the union will be back
on the job so those who kept working can get some sleep at their
homes. Hopefully, things will go back to normal, though then again
maybe not because of hard feelings. Hope your DH finds that he enjoys
his work, whether at the present job or a new one.

Just wondering, how many jobs was it that were going to be lost
because of the plant discontinuing whatever it was they're
discontinuing?

The plant employs about 1200 people total (union + salaried), they were
going to move 2 sections to 'elsewhere' (rumors upon hearing that was
Mexico, but Corp. HQ denied those allegations, stated that they jobs would
remain on US soil, just going where workers didn't want $20+/- per hour) and
therefore eliminate 600 jobs.  Then union contract expired and they rejected
the company's offer - they didn't want to take that big of a pay cut, wanted
the majority of the jobs to stay where they were, and didn't like the
insurance co-pay increase (who does?  Have you looked at a non-veterinary
medical bill lately??? $HEEE$H!!!!).  That's when the strike started -
Memorial weekend.  Then the union negotiators started rejecting offers from
the company without showing them to the union workforce - or so I am told,
don't know if it's true or not.  But things were at a standstill -
complaints from both sides of the line about how they were being treated by
the other side, yada yada yada.

The production line that corp. was going to move & eliminate 600 jobs WAS
moved, to a location in Ohio, within 12 hours of the strike (this is this
plant's biggest money maker, the fuel sender line - makes the gadgetry that
sends fuel from the gas tank to the fuel pump on the engine), and word was
that if a contract was NOT ratified by July 4, the entire pant would be shut
down.  Period.  No Jobs.  Those salaried workers that did not want to
relocate to other factories, I guess they would have gotten a severance
package.  I might add that July 4 is the beginning of their annual 2-week
shut down, when general maintenance is performed.

A lot of people in the union thought that was a bluff, but the majority did
not.  And Bedford, IN could not support 1200 unemployed.  A lot of people
had the idea that they could get better benefits with a McJob, but got news
for ya people - McD's pays on average $7 - and there's only one McD in
Bedford - no way they could hire 1200 people. One BK, one Hardee's, one LJS,
one KFC, one Kmart, one Wal-Mart, one other factory in town that maybe could
have hired a few of the ex-Visteon people.

Latest proposal (the one thy voted in) still had the 250 (out of the
original 600) people getting a buyout ($25000) for leaving their jobs,
lowered their pay cut and juggled the insurance co-pay around so it didn't
hurt as much.  This contract is for four years, and at least they at least
have that time to get a better education and/or line up another job.

Well, that's all I can think of for now, my mother-in-law just called, and I
have to repeat everything to her twice (just so she can repeat it back to me
a third time) so now I'm kind of addle-brained.

Geez, that does sound like a nasty working environment.  Many purrs for him
to get this new job.

Ha!  I suspected at least one of them was a boy, I just picked the wrong one

Good!  You'll get that nasty ringworm cleared up in no time.

I wish you'd been able to get a pic of that!  Glad for the great report on
all your furkids!
