Guys, those purrs are so powerful. Thank you.
I just got a phone message. Christine set the trap baited with smoked salmon
last night.  This morning the salmon was gone and the trap was empty.
She set it on a more sensitive setting this morning and baited it with
salmon again.  Left the trap and came back to check about 45 minutes later
and found mama cat in the trap.
She's a gorgeous black shorthair, Christine says.
Anyway, she's at the vet's.  I suppose that since she has eaten something,
that might complicate things.
Could she please have some more purrs that she will come through the surgery
without any problems? (Prayers are welcome also.)
I'll post more details as they are available.
Annie, happy dancing.

OMG! OMG!

That's great, wonderful news!!!!!!!!!!

We're purring for her spay, and hoping that she'll eventually become
reunited with her babies.

BTW, smoked salmon would probably have trapped me, too. :)

Thanks, Tak.  The kittens are all going to homes where they will be able to
perfect their slave training skills on their very own hoomins.  The mama cat
will go back to the barn, where she will not be having more babies and will
have someone to look after her. So, I suspect the reunion won't happen, but
they are all better off than they were a week ago.
Now we are hoping the surgery and vaccinations take place without
complications.

NO DOUBT!  I adore smoked salmon!  Purrrrrrrr.... crawling into trap.  Go
ahead, spay me, just give me more of the salmon please!

Happy to hear mama is at the vet.  Great news!

Considering the price of good smoked salmon, I'll happily take some shots
and swallow a worm pill or two.  Could you make the shots the ones required
for travel to Europe if there is such a thing?  Oh, and can I get a new
passport while we're at it?  John is talking about us going to Scotland
(laugh).  Aye, Scottish smoked salmon, that's the ticket!  Purrrrrrrr.

Knowing how you feel about having kids, Jill, this isn't that much of
a sacrifice! :)

Joyce - who would also choose lox over pregnancy :)

SHHHHHH, Joyce!  It's supposed to sound like I'm making a grand sacrifice,
sheesh!  Don't give me away!

Jill (loves Northern Atlantic lox, and so does Persia!)

Purrs and prayers for the Mama's wellbeing ,  Who will take care of
her after the surgery?

Thank you.
I don't have the details because we were shopping when Christine called and
left a phone message.  She seems to have coordinated this whole thing really
well (not to mention lucky breaks), so I assume she has taken care of that
problem.  I'll post another update when I find out more.

Yeah!  I've been following this story though not posting until now.
So glad you got the mama cat and that the babies are all doing fine!
And that's great the vet will spay mama cat for free :-)
Congratulations!

The free spay is just the icing on the cake for sure.
Christine has adopted abandoned pets who were sick and nursed them back to
health.  Fortunately, this cat and babies were healthy, but this is the
first multiple rescue she's has had dumped in her lap and had to coordinate
herself.  It has gone amazingly well.  Ideally, she would have been able to
take in the mother cat and the kittens and kept them long enough to get the
mother and kittens spay/neutered, but the circumstances did not lead that
way.  Yet, she's accomplished in a week what often takes months.  I'm just
so proud of her.

Great news. They may end up keeping her over night and doing the
surgery tomorrow - that's what they did with Rocky to make sure his
stomach was empty to the anesthetic. Purrs coming for easy surgery and
quick recovery.

I suspect that will be the plan.  I'm waiting to find out how it goes.  I

Yep. Me, too. I love salmon.
That's what I used for bait when I trapped Rosie. She walked right into the
trap. Of course, I'd had a lot more time to work with her than Christine did
with this cat.

Annie,

That is WONDERFUL news!  So happy for all of the kitties and mommy.  Now she
can be well taken care of.  I'm sure she will come thru the surgery just
fine.  They are quite resiliant little critters.  We'd be down for weeks, at
most their down for a day or two.  :)

Please pass the congrats on a job well done to Christine.

Hope this message finds you, DH and DDs in good health.

Excellent news!  Yay!  I just knew it would work out.  Christine seems like
she really got things organized for the cat and her kittens.  Good for her,
good for them :-)

That is wonderful news, that the Mama was trapped! Many purrs coming over
for her operation (it's probably too late for those, maybe healing purrs for
her to recover soon would be better).
