Well, all the kittens have new homes and mama cat came through surgery and
is back in the barn.
The kittens all purred and were friendly and cute and melted hearts.
One of the school counselors took Buddy and a brother they named Sylvester.
One of the teachers brought her little girl to pick out a kitten.  They took
Spitty, who turned out to be especially affectionate in spite of his spunky
attitude. He and the little girl just took to each right away and when she
touched him, he just purred his little heart out. They renamed him Lovey
before taking him home.
A student worker took the gray kitten she had already named Gracie (or maybe
Grayce as suggested).
The woman who had told the gal at the coffee drive-in that she wanted a
kitten took the other girl kitten.
The vet tech also got a kitten.
Mama cat is a wild one.  Christine said that she is huge for a female cat,
solid black, with evil yellow eyes. The eyes, I think, are understandable,
considering that she was in a trap.
Anyway, she was going under for the surgery, but the vet got a little
careless, and she managed to wake up enough to chomp down on his finger.
So, could we please have some purrs for the vet who was kind enough to offer
to spay for free this mother cat and got his finger chomped for his trouble?
I really hope he doesn't get a serious infection or anything.
Christine brought the cat home, in the trap, this evening.  The cat was
fully awake and doing fine.  Christine put her in the barn and tied the door
to the trap open so she could get out whenever she wanted. She also left
food and water and left mama cat alone so that she would be more likely to
stay in the barn where she felt at home, instead of running off.
I hope she will not have any complications.
Whew, what a week this has been.

Please pass along congrats to Christine for the great job she did. She
obviously did good with the babies, both in socializing them and
finding them homes. Purrs that mama settles down - hopefully those
evil eyes were just expressing her displeasure with the trap like you
suggest.

What a great story this has been to read. So much to have accomplished
in such a short time!

Purrs for the good vet, who didn't deserve to be bitten.

Annie,

I am THRILLED to hear kitties have all found loving homes and mama got
herself fixed.  Sorry to hear the vet got bit for his troubles, but part of
the job - better a little kitty than giant pit pull :O  Here's hoping his
finger gets better!

I knew I liked you and your daughter for a reason!  What kind loving
people - especially towards animals.  Again, please pass cograts onto
Christine for wonderful job, and having such a wonderful heart.  You did a
great job in raising her!

Annie, please tell Christine that all of us in RPCA give her a standing
ovation for all her efforts on this matter. What a kind-hearted person she
is, I'm sure having been raised by a loving Mum like you helped out a lot.
To be so kind and caring for a bunch of feral cats is absolutely
mind-boggling. God does make good people.

Great news! Christine was obviously well raised. I'm happy for all
concerned, but sorry for the vet getting a finger bitten.
