I added another photo of Kenzie  to the RPCA photo album, in the
folder named Gandalf.

I scanned it at on my brother's computer, but I have his old scanner
now, with no manual, and software downloaded from someplace in the
Ukraine. I hope I can get it working properly; perhaps this weekend. I
know it works, and the cost was within my budget, at least.

She is, of course, adorable and beautiful. I hope you don't mind my
asking, though, if it's really necessary for her to wear all those tags?
Aren't they a nuisance for her? In both the noise and the weight factors.
Seems like all she really needs is one, for identification.

She has her ID tag, and her rabies tag. And, she has one of Lucky's (RB), and
one of Blizzard's (RB) tags. She doesn't seem to mind at all, and the jingle
help to keep me from accidentally stepping back and stepping on her paw or tail
(which, much to my chagrin, does still happen, occasionally.) But I think it
would happen more often if not for the tags.

Where do you live? My cats get rabies vaccinations, but they don't get
tags. I live in California, and as far as I know, around here only dogs
get rabies tags when they've been vaccinated.

I live in Nashville, Tennesee, USA.  Up until this year, I have had
my cats vaccinated by the Metro Health Department, who have
once-a-year rabies vaccination clinics at various points around the
city.  They issue a certificate, but no tags, at least for cats.
This year I had Cinders vaccinated by a nearby vet, and did receive a
tag as well as the certificate.  I don't know whether the city policy
has changed, or whether issuing tags to cats as well as dogs was just
a policy of this particular vet's office.  I don't currently have a
collar on Cinders (I live on a very busy street, and about 300 feet
from a major highway, so she is an indoor-only cat), so the tag is on
my dresser.

She's very pretty, but also mischievous looking.  I guess it's that
butterscotch mouth :-)

If you've seen some of my early posts about Kenzie, I remarked about how
well behaved she is. She literally never gets into trouble. To my
knowledge, amongst the clutter (which would make it easy to discover)
Kenzie has *never* been up on the kitchen counter, dining room table, my
desk, or any of my bookshelves.

It took me about 2 years to convince her that I truly *do* want her to
jump up on the sofa and sit in my lap; something that is still a real
treat for me, as she isn't much of a lap fungus.

She will pretty often jump in my lap when I'm using my computer, and
will bat at my hands a bit, but that's about it. Sometimes she will
settle down for awhile, if I give her a scritch every few words I type

But although I think her previous humans trained some of the fun of a
cat out her, she makes up for in being so sweet.

She will sit a few feet away and gaze at me with her big green eyes, and
if I say her name, she starts purring. She has a very small meow, and a
special sound that's half meow, and half chirp, when she wants
attention.

I can never resist her, of course.

When I first got her, she didn't like to be picked up, but now she knows
if I pick her up, she's in for some serious scritching, which she
absolutely loves. She will let me rub her tummy for a little while, but
not too long.

She sleeps on a pillow on my right side, where I can easily reach her.
She virtually never wakes me up, but never seems to mind if I when I'm
half awake I scritch her ears, or her chin. She just purrs me back to
sleep.

Yes, I've read your previous posts about how good she is.  That's why it's
so funny that she looks mischievous, like she's been caught eating the
butterscotch pudding.  I guess by looking that way, she doesn't have to
actually *be* that way.  Takes some of the pressure off ;-)  I hope her
previous owners weren't mean to her, breaks my heart to think that some
people would get mad at a cat for jumping on counters, tables and shelves.
I only get mad at Vino for chewing on electrical cords.  But Vino only chews
on them when he's mad at me for not feeding him fast enough.  So then we're
both mad at each other ;-)

Kenzie doesn't seem to have been abused or scolded in any way; I was
told she knows the 'no' when I got her, but she doesn't cringe or look
scared the few times I've used it, like when I cach her eating a rubber
band. (My fault for leaving them where she can get to them.)

I think she was just trained very well, by people with patience.

Kenzie genuinely seems to *want* to do the things I praise her for
doing. She's a very, very smart cat, and loves attention, so she does
the things that get her the ear scritches she enjoys so much.

I wish I had had the opportunity to raise her from a kitten, I'll bet
she would be a bit more wild. I'm her third (and last) human, so I
really don't know hat happened with her first human. She was a Humane
Society adoptee by her second humans.

But she is what she is, and I love her dearly. She's a Very Special Cat,
to be sure.
