Music legend Ray Charles died today (Thursday) at home in California,
"surrounded by friends and family". He was 73.

Oh yes. I can still remember toddling around the house singing
"Hit the road Jack", one of my favourite songs as a little girl.
Ray Charles' music will still be known and appreciated hundreds
of years from now.

I was very saddened by this news.  The man was a legend.  I'll never forget
again hearing his rendition of 'America the Beautiful' being played on all
the television stations after the events of 9/11/2001.  His family has my
purrs.
