Christine Burel - 11 Jun 2004 00:33 GMT I wanted to say "thank you" to you Norm for starting the earlier thread on cat ghosts because your and the others' posts actually helped me and Celeste last night. Celeste has claimed since our Frodo went to the RB in 2000 that she could see his ghost and it scared her; my trying to comfort her by saying that it would be a really nice thing that he visited her didn't do much because, after all, I'm her mom and too familiar to take seriously! But last night she and I were up till past 1 a.m. because she was scared and felt different about seeing his ghost. Since I can't see him myself it really helped her to read about the rest of your experiences so she didn't feel so weird and different.
Many thanks. She had originally posted to the thread that was Ghost on My Shoulder last night but I think sent it to you Jean only instead of responding to rpca. Thanks for your response to her, Jean. I'll show it to her as soon as I can get to my regular email again. I probably will also repost her original comments to the thread.
Regards, Christine Burel

I hope she now feels special that Frodo's ghost visits her. I wish I had the ghosts of my lost loved ones visit me. :)

Christine Burel - 11 Jun 2004 03:12 GMT Hi. I'm Christine's daughter, Celeste. I often see our old kitty Frodo, but instead of seeing him out of the corner of my eye, I can stare straight at him. I can usually feel his presence. To be honest, at first it scares me, then I think he's visiting to shorten the gap of time until I, too, enter the clouds.
When I see the ghost, he's the same pale color he always was, but gives of a yellow-ish glow, assuring me he went were I wanted him to. If you can see your kitty's ghost, what does it look like? ~Celeste

If you can see > your kitty's ghost, what does it look like? > ~Celeste Hi Celeste, When our daughter, Christine, was in first grade, we moved far away to a new home. She said that if she could have a kitten to hug, she would not be so lonesome. So, of course, we got her a kitten. He was gray with stripes and she named him Josh. He grew up to be a very big cat who weighed 22 pounds. Christine's dad and I still had Josh when she went away to college. Eventually, he got old and died. A couple of months after Josh died, Christine's dad and I were sleeping, and our other cat, Moxie, growled at something outside on the deck. I got up and looked out the window. I saw a big striped cat, just Josh's size, sitting on the deck. He was gray, but with a silver glow in the moonlight. He had a little smile on his face, just like Josh used to smile. I went downstairs to go out the back door to get a better look, but when I got to the deck, the cat was gone. We did not see him again. Christine, who was away at college, told me that on a different night, she was sitting up in bed and fell asleep when she was studying for a test. She felt something heavy jump on the bed and knock her books off. She opened her eyes and did not see anything, but she knew it was Josh. I hope this helps. Annie

Don't worry, he's not visiting to tell you to come with him. He's visiting to make sure you and your mom are okay, and just to check in.
I've seen and/or felt most of my cats. Most of them I see out of the corner of my eye, but one time, I could see our old Tiki cat (crossed to the Bridge in 1996) right in front of me. It was strange, because she looked like on "Star Trek", when they do the trasporter thing? Like she was half-there, and partly sparkling. My husband saw it, too.
Don't be scared if Frodo is visiting. He's just there to reassure you and to say "Hi" :-)

If you can see > your kitty's ghost, what does it look like? This isn't so much about a ghost of a cat at Rainbow Bridge, but about cats that we can't be with. Twice I have found myself away from Shmogg for more than a day or so, and both times I am quite sure he came to visit me and reassure me that he was OK. I couldn't see him (I think you are very lucky that you can see Frodo) but I could feel him next to me, and hear his snuffly snores and very light purr. I think he was just trying to say that he was OK, and that he missed me too.
He's having a good time at Rainbow Bridge, but would never be so mean as to hurry you up. Time means nothing to cats anyway. I think Frodo is just doing the same thing, letting you know he's fine and is coming to make sure that you are OK, as he knew you were sad after his body left this world. Mere physical things like death, can't stop a determined cat. Nothing can.

I don't think you have anything to worry about - Frodo's ghost would still be Frodo, and certainly wouldn't mean you harm, any more than he did while he was living with you. I believe he's just coming back to visit and say hello, which tells me that you and Frodo must have had a strong bond of love.
I have never been lucky enough to see the ghost of one of our animals, but of course it could still happen. I know that other people who have had visits like that have felt good about it - like their kitty was happy, and just wanted to visit where he'd had so much love during his life. If it does ever happen to me, I will be sure to let you know what it was like.

She's only about 5 years old. BUT, I have seen and felt the presence of the ghost of my little dog, Sampson.
Sampson crossed the RB in November, 1999 after almost 18 years of being my best buddy. That little mutt saw me through all sorts of stormy moments in my adult life, from my marriage at age 22 to my divorce at 24 (he was in the property settlement!) up until I was almost 40 years old.
I was devastated when he died. A total basket case. About 2 months after he died we had some really freaky storms come through Memphis. It was too early for tornado season but it was like that. When storms would come through, he always curled up next to me on the bed. I don't know if he was comforting me or if he was seeking comfort. Anyway, I woke up in the middle of the night to terrible thunder, the power went out. I stretched out my hand and I felt FUR under my fingers. I came fully awake and realized, I should *not* be feeling fur! Just about that time, I felt a very odd 'pulling' sensation. I felt Sampson move away from me to the end of the bed and then away. It was freaky and I was most definitely awake. He left me there; the storm subsided. I fell back to sleep and woke up feeling very content. I was no longer grieving and in pain; I knew he'd been back to tell me things were okay and that he was watching over me still.
To this day, I do think Persia is Sampson in cats clothing. But what a surprise it must have been to him to come back as a cat *and* a female, to boot! :o)

The experience was more than a bit surprising to me; although I like to believe in such things the "realist" in me stays with the scientific method. Because I was an engineering major I guess. But Max's presence was so strong and comforting. That's explained, courtesy of my psychology studies (how's that for a admixture of education?) as the result of my needs to have Max here still and/or absolution. But ... I'm glad it happened and especially that you and others have had similar warm experiences. Norm
