Ever since she chose us to move in with, we had never seen her do
anything but sleep, eat, demand to be petted, and sit, smiling, on the
catnip scratching board, but yesterday she showed her true feline
instincts and caught two mice.

One of them met his end after a short session of torture. The other one
escaped. Unfortunatly, the one that escaped was the one that she
brought into the house. He was last seen squeezing through a hole under
the kitchen cabinets.

His re-appearance should be interesting, especially if he jumps out
when my wife opens the cabinet door or reaches into a drawer.

My mother once opened the silverware drawer, only to find a little
mouse standing on top of the forks and gazing up at her. She let out
a startled scream, and the mouse ran for cover. Afterwards, she
joked that the mouse was probably more startled than she was. Her
main complaint was that she had to wash all of the silverware, and
the drawer itself, as the mouse left a number of "peppercorns" in the
drawer as souvenirs.

My sister once lived in an apartment that had a hot-air duct just
below the ceiling. One night, she noticed her cat staring fixedly at
the duct. When she looked up, she saw a mouse in the two-inch gap
between the duct and the ceiling, gazing down at the cat and probably
going "Na, na na na na! You can't catch me!"
