Cold Blue Paws
We have some of those "blue goo in a bag" icepacks. Last night, Senyah
was using one.
When Senyah put the icepack on the bed, Buster leaned a little forward
and sort of sniffed at it.
Well, seeing his expressed interest, I grabbed on eof his front paws,
and gently placed it on the bag. His expression was one of stunned
disbelief that I would do such a thing. After a second or two, he
lifted his paw about a half inch above the ice pack, still giving me
the "how could you DO that to me?" look. Finally, he curled that paw
up under his body.
After thinking about it for a few more seconds, he decided to move
away from me, and closer to Senyah, who has never tried to chill his
furry little paws before.
Extreme Meatloafing
Yesterday afternoon (before the blue ice), I had let Buster out. After
about ten minutes, I decided to have a look out the door to see if
Buster was back yet (he seems to prefer the bushes outdoors to the
litterbox indoors).
I had no sooner stepped out the door, when I saw Buster and Fluffy
(the local bully cat, and archenemy to both Buster and Little Feet).
They were meatloafing, facing each other from about a foot apart. As
they stared each other down, one would slash his tail up and down for
a moment, then the other would slash his tail, and maybe snobbishly
raise his nose back.
I can imagine the conversation:
Fluffy: "This is MY place!"
Buster: "No, it's mine!"
Fluffy: "Well, he feeds me here."
Buster: "He feeds me here, too, and lets me eat inside,
and gives me milk and a place to sleep when I
want.
Fluffy: "Hmmmph! Well I don't trust him not to hurt me!"
Buster: "Yah big wuss! You are such a coward!"
So I carefully walk around to pick Buster up, at which point he yowls
at Fluffy. Fluffy steps back a few feet. Buster struts away from the
door, and cleans himself.
I go inside and get food for Fluffy. As usual, I try to sweettalk
Fluffy a little before he eats. He still gives me a very nervous
stare, but he doesn't automatically run away at the sight of me
(grin).
After conferring with Buster, Little Feet runs up to the window like a
shot, which makes Fluffy nervous again. If Fluffy could hear Little
Feet's soft growls, he might choose another feeding spot...

That Buster is one special cat! And we don't approve of chilled paws
on special cats. As for Fluffy, he better not mess with Buster or we
will come teach him better manners toward a special cat!
