Kitty Hit Parade, or "Upside-Downy Head"

I was relieved to discover I'm not the only nut who makes up
ridiculous songs to sing to my cat.  Here's another one I was singing
this morning.  This takes a little explanation.

Probably the single most adorably cutest thing that Stinky does is
this-- he's lying on a bed, or sofa, or his favorite hassock, and I
come into the room.  He usually flips right over and and shows his
beautiful white belly, but sometimes he just turns his head over and
looks at me upside down.  I think this is incredibly cute.  I call it
<ahem> "Upside-downy head."

So he did it this morning, and I started singing, and the first tune
that came into my head was an aria from the operetta "Martha"  --
notas obscure as you might think.  It's a very pretty tune, and you've
heard it if you saw "Breaking Away"-- the hero sings it under his
girlfriend's window.  Michael Bolton also recorded it when he was
going through an opera phase.  On this page, there's a sample of
Pavarotti singing it-- it's Track 2, called "M'Appari":

It so happens that these words fit the tune perfectly:
"Upside down!
Upside down-y head!
Upside down,
Upside down,
Upside down-y head!"

Thank you for understanding. ;)

Head."

LOL!  Isn't it great to have a place where you can tell something like
that and nobody calls for the men in the little white coats?  <G>

No, you are NOT the only one.....

I sing to my gray cat--to the tune of 'I feel pretty':
You're so pretty,
You're so pretty,
You're so pretty, and witty, and gray!

And for the calico I change the last line to
"You're so pretty and witty, NOT gray!

And now that I've told you this, I must kill you.....<G

LOL! You do know that your post could be read by millions, and will
be archived in an accessible place for an indefinite amount of time,
possibly for the rest of time, don't you? That's a lot of people to
kill. :)

I sing this one to Vino when he lies around all stretched out a long as he
can get.  It's to the Mr. Grinch song:
You're a long one, Mr. V
you really are a hoot!
You're as cuddly as a teddy
and so charming and so cute,
Mr. V!

Sandpaper kisses, a cuddle and a purr. I have an alarm clock that's covered
in fur!

And after the Tonys I was in kind of a Sondheim mood, so I was
singing:
"Attend the tale of Stinky Todd,
He has a black-and-white fuzzy bod . . .
He sniffed the faces of gentlemen
Who never thereafter were heard of again . . .
He trod a path that few have trod.
Did Stinky Todd,
The Demon Kitty of Fleet Street!"

My mother was saying, "How could you sing that about that little
mushpot? " ;)

You know, Theresa, I think you have a real talent there.
Of course, I'm not sure what that says about me, either.  :-)

Thank you.  All my talents are completely useless and non-lucrative.

I've got the beginnings of a song worked out for Kona, who also is
referred to as Konaman.  It's the song to the old cartoon "Spiderman":

Konaman, Konaman,
Doin' the things that a Kona can...

I'm working on the rest of the lyrics..:-)

It may make you feel better to know that professionals do this, too.
The last time I took Kona to the Cat Clinic for a bath, I told the
tech who works with adoptees about the song and I sang it to Kona
while he was in his carrier.  She told me that the staff at the clinic
made up cat songs too, and that at the last Christmas party everyone
got a little buzzed at the restaurant where they were gathered and
started singing one of them, called "Cat Loose"- sung to the tune of
"Foot Loose" (the clinic houses about 40-60 cats waiting for adoption
and many are allowed to roam around).  They've worked out about 4
verses to "Cat Loose" and she sang them all to me in front of everyone
waiting in the reception area.

I haven't worked up a song for Sabastian yet and I feel a little bad
about that.  He doesn't seem to mind.

There you go! You have the very start of it already! How about:

I don't have a song for Sabastian yet,
And I feel a little bad about that,
But he doesn't seem to mind.

He sits and he purrs on my lap anyway,
He snuggles and purrs and could do it all day,
Lovely little guy of mine!

Well, maybe it's a start for ya.
I got a little worked up, there.
I have to go now and take my sedative...
