We've been using Advantage on our kids for the past couple years.  I don't
know if the product has changed or if our fleas have evolved, but they have
just as many fleas 2 weeks after the applications as they did before the
applications.  ANYONE know which flea controller will work better than
Advantage?

That's really weird. We've used advantage at least that long and it's still
effective. I wonder if Frontline would work better for you? It wouldn't hurt to
try. Frontline is pretty safe, as far as those things go, and the reported side
effects have been relatively mild.

I like Frontline.

If you've a serious flea problem - you'll *need* to do your home too, to kill
off flea eggs & larvae.

Well the time from flea eggs to new fleas in two weeks or thereabout.
Sounds like you have got them into the house.  They do vacuum up easily and
wash out easily.  But if you have an infestation going, you need to fog for
them, wait 14 days and fog again.

We use Revolution. It controls fleas, ticks, heartworm, hookworm,
roundworm, and some other parasites.

I wish.  We use revolution, but it hasn't stopped the never ending
elections that North Carolina has been having since we moved here.  It
works great on removable pests.

I'll add my vote for Frontline, and as Helen and others have said, you
probably need to treat your home and soft furnishings with a household
spray too. I can speak from experience that if you are rigorous at first
treating cats and home, then keep cats treated according to the
instructions, you will very soon have a flea-free household! :-)
Important to maintain the treatment even when all fleas have gone as
they can bring them in from outside - one of mine brings in HUGE fleas,
I think he sleeps in the foxes' holes or somewhere!

Also - it is important to treat the cats for worms (tapeworms and
roundworm) regualrly, every 3-4 months, because the flea uses the cat
tapeworm as part of its life cycle, so you must treat both to ensure the
fleas are gone.  A product such as Drontal Cat or Milbemax does the job
well.

Make sure whatever you get is from a vet surgery, not a pet store, so
that it is the proper strength and not harmful to your kitties.

Purrs,

Deb.
