Last night, I noticed that Weeble was in the dining room, really intent on
playing with a particular 'toy'. It was rather small, so I was unable to
tell what it was from a distance. Thinking it might be some sort of
squishable insect, I went to investigate - and lo & behold, he has somehow
removed the foam pad from the headset to my cell phone! The headset was on
the floor under DH's desk, as he was the last one to use headset, as it also
fits his cell phone, and he left it on his desk. I pick up headset,
retrieve foam earpad from Weeble before it gets lost in the oblivion all cat
toys get lost in, put it back together & place it back on DH's desk. DH
give Weeble a catnip-infused puffball to play with instead.
Weeble plays with puffball for about 15-30 minutes, when I notice him on
DH's desk, after he knocks something to the floor. It's the headset, and
he's removed the earpad again! I take earpad away from Weeble, put it back
on the headset, and this time I stuff the headset into a cubby-hole on MY
desk.
This morning, when I got up, I noticed a few pens had been knocked to the
floor under my desk, nothing new, I just pick them up & get on with the
email & newsgroups thang. I go feed the Fearsome Foursome, then go to read
for an hour or two. Come back to 'puter and check new email & newsgroup
postings.
Weeble has followed me, in the hopes that food will magically appear in his
dish (he's getting a nice 'lion's pouch' or fat pocket, so we're not giving
the amount of food he would like to have for fear that he will turn into a
lardo like Tennessee), and after waiting a few minutes with no food, he
starts winding around my feed making sure to rub on me lovingly, then making
a mad dash to his food bin (across the room) every time I reach down to pet
him. I guess he's hoping that *I* will make the food appear in his dish
(little does he know that it is I that makes the food NOT appear in his dish
:/ ). After a few rounds of this game not working, he decided to play with
something at my feet. Normally this does not bother me, but he's making the
same chirrupy noise he was making last night when he had that earpad in the
dining room. He makes that same noise when there's a fly on a window or
wall that he can't reach - its kind of a "mrrrrrrrrrrrrp?". So that peaks MY
curiosity, and I look to see what he's been playing with.
He's got that same earpad. How do I know its the same earpad? The headset
is no longer in the cubby-hole I jammed it into. I take earpad away from
Weeble (yet again) and give him a cuddle while chiding him and asking where
the headset is (as if he could answer). So I go off in search of the
headset. I know it's not on the floor under my desk, so I look un DH's
desk... not there either. I remember kicking an odd-feeling toy out of my
path when on my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night - so I go
look around the rest of the house. Sure enough, in the dining room, is the
headset. I again replace the earpad, and this time I put the headset away
in a cabinet.
Now the waiting begins.......

You can get extra pads, fortunately. Not that it's ever happened
here, no no, no. Well, yes, Stinky does it and Mimi did it too. I
think they like the size and shape of course, but the foam has some
kind of petroleum-product smell to it that attracts them
Stinky is also fond of kidnapping my makeup brushes.

What a character. :) Thanks for sharing this story!

Marley (RB) was a fan of emery boards. Probably because I used to file
his claws (not really, just rubbed them) when he got nosy when I was
doing my nails.

Oh yeah, those too. Stinky flicks them all over. Mimi actually would
lick them-- the mind boggles. ;)

Maybe he likes your husband's smell on it?
You have to *lock* that thing up, or you know he will find a way to
get it!
Or maybe you should just get some new earpads for hubby's headset,
and give Weeble "his" - I mean, it is his at this point, isn't it?
I'm sure the Weebs has his scent all over it.

Weeble needs to understand that any electronic device is considered people
toys (even the tiny remote control cars that we bought for the cats to play
with, are more fun for us because most of the cats RUN from them:) )

They're too smart for our own good!
Any new photos of Weeble?
