Barf response

Susan M - 12 Sep 2005 06:14 GMT Otis barfed lastnight at 4 AM. I heard him starting to heave, woke out of deep REM, turned on the bedside table lamp, and Fred found a magazine to put under Otis' face. We went from REM to saving the new bedspread in less than 10 seconds :-) We've had a few barfs in the past few days in the house so I hope that they boys are ok. We'll keep watching them :-(
It's been cold and rainy - just above zero celcius here for the past few days. Fall is coming and the boys don't like it. Little do they realize that this will seem *really* warm in a couple of months.

LOL! Yeah, I can empathize. Misty(RB) even made the connection between barfing and my wanting her to hurk onto newspaper.
I used to live in an apartment where part of my daily routine was to read the newspaper before going to sleep. Read paper, drop paper on floor next to bed, turn out light, go to sleep. In the morning, I'd discard the newspaper as part of my "get ready for work" routine.
Hence, there were a few nights where Misty started making the "hurk" noise while she was on the bed. My response was to quickly relocate her so she was standing on the newspaper next to the bed. Then she'd barf up the hairball onto the newspaper, I'd discard it, and we'd both go back to sleep.
Misty was an exceptionally clever cat, with a better ability to connect cause and effect than most other felines I've known. (She did so better than some HUMANS I've known, too, but that's an observation for another thread.) After the third or fourth time that I parked her on the newspaper before she hurked, she "got it". From then on, at the first sign of "hurk" noises, she'd jump onto the newspaper HERSELF and deposit the hairball on there.
She might be the only cat I've ever encountered whose STOMACH was paper-trained. :o)

We're lucky that we don't have a big barf problem, but there's nothing as alarming as hearing a cat making those particular noises on a newly-washed quilt!

(She did so better [quoted text clipped - 16 lines] > http://www.kajikitscorner.com > Online photo album - http://community.webshots.com/user/kajikit Smokie (long hair cat) isn't paper trained, but she is "tile" trained. She will go into either the kitchen or the bathroom, and hurk onto the tile (much easier to clean than on the carpet). If Meowmie wasn't awakened by the hurks, Smokie will come and get her, so no one has to step on it whilst sleep walking toward the potty or the coffee pot.
Smokie Darling (Annie) - she will sit on my chest and put her (exceptionally cold and wet) nose on my upper lip, if that doesn't wake your butt up, nothing will.

You just answered my question. You're not only a self-righteous moron with the I.Q. of a hairball, you're also a low-life coward who talks about parents while hiding behind a screen name.
meee - 14 Sep 2005 08:25 GMT Is john doe a legit person? he seems worse than the other trolls, as he lurks around then pops up to abuse anyone and everyone, which does no good to either side

But highs are still in the mid-90's F (mid 30's C) and lows in the 70's F (20's C). I can't wait for winter! :)

I sometimes worry about her being thin, even though I know Tyche is overweight and so of course there's a difference...

Hey guys, it IS September - the beginning of autumn or of spring, depending upon which hemisphere you live in. Either means shedding (whether the summer or the winter coat), which involves a lot of extra grooming. Just keep the hairball treatments going, and resign yourselves to cleaning a few messes off of the carpets.
