http://www.readfreenews.net/

It's free to read news through news.readfreenews.net.  For free posting
access, go to http://cust.readfreenews.net/login.php and sign up.

I've looked at the feed and none of the flood messages are getting through.

To filter out Katz (in all its different names,) if you have a newsreader
like Xnews or Gravity that will let you customize your filters, try
filtering on these fields:

NNTP-Posting-Host: 67.81.16.169  (you may have to set the filter to filter
on 67.81.* or 67.81.16.*)

or

X-Complaints-To: abuse@cv.net

If he changes open servers to use, you'll have to adjust your filters
because the NNTP Posting Host and X-Complaints-To will be different.

Additionally, try filtering on UTB in organization field or filtering out
crossposts.

For extended filtering, use nfilter: http://www.nfilter.org/

Liar. I read through readfreenews, and the floods are NOT getting through.
I even checked just now to see if anything had changed, and I am not seeing
any of the flooding. Some troll posts, yes, but no floods.

Xposted to alt.free.newsservers so Mike Horwath, who runs readfreenews.net,
can join in the discussion if he wants.

I don't give a toss where you cross post to or who joins in the
conversation. The only server I use on this machine is
news.readfreenews.net and I have received over 40,000  posts
rec.pets.cats.anecdotes in the past couple of days so please make sure of
your facts before accusing people of lying.

<delurking>

I have to agree with Fraction on this one.... I pulled the last 500
headers for RPCA thru this server a few minutes ago and there were many
flood messages still in there. However, they stopped about 10-12 hours
ago, judging by the posting time. Could be taking a break, or had enough.

Ah, well, one of life's many little irritations. So be it.
Cheers

OK, I see what's going on. The flooder changed servers and now I can see
the spew too. Yesterday I wasn't seeing it, so I think the previous server
address was blocked by RFN, and that was why I wasn't seeing any flooding
yesterday.

I still don't know why I saw no spew yesterday and several of you did,
unless you were seeing older messages before the previous flooding server
was blocked.

If you don't mind paying a small fee (about $13/year), Individual.net
blocked the spew early on and it's stayed blocked.

It sucks.  I went to http://cust.readfreenews.net/register.php to register and entered
legit info in all the feilds and all it every told me was "Please check your e-mail and
follow the instructions" no matter how many times I filled in the info.

What good is it if you can not even register?!?!?!

Check your spam folder, if your email service has one. That's where my
registration info letter ended up.

Following is an announcement made by Mike Howarth, the owner of the
"Readfreenews" servers dated August 12th 2005
