Hot Day in Maryland

After finishing yardword (as much as I can stand when its 93 degrees out,
thermometer said 98 in the sun), showering, and finally getting something
to eat (too hot to eat), I'm hanging out downstairs watching tv, doing
laundry, reading Usenet and writing email. I propped open the cat flap to
the outdoor enclosure to see if Bonnie would go out (Shadow and Shamrock
work the door like champs).  She went out and here is the scene: Shamrock
trying to catch something through the enclosure mesh (probably another
cicada, he's very focused and looking around for a way out there) Bonnie
creeping around very slowly around the entire perimeter sniffing
everything, looking back to make sure the door is still there, Shadow
laying on a lawn chair watching everything.

Yup. A cicada, he got it. I get up to go watch (very funny!), Bonnie gets
spooked by me because she heard me and runs inside, Shadow leaves his
lawnchair perch to go see the monsterous bug and they both paw at it.  My
hero hunters.  lol Shamrock has one paw on a wing and is looking around
at everything but the bug.

Heh that's great she went out! Wow. That's REALLY hot. Ew.

<vent, rant>
Hot day in Virginia too. And our air conditioning died over the weekend.
Repeated calls to the "24-Hour Service" line resulted in one call at 3:30
p.m. from the guy saying he probably wouldn't make it out on Sunday and to
call Monday for a service call.  The cats are melted, as are we. Last night
was a nightmare. The Baby would not fall asleep on her own, and would not
stay alseep anywhere but in her crib, upstairs in the worst heat.  And she
still woke up for about an hour and a half at 2 a.m.

The good news is that service is gauranteed today, but when they will
actually show up is anybody's guess.
Thank The Bowl for ceiling fans and ice cream.

I hope that it is fixed now and you and the baby et al can get a good night
sleep.
