Seems lately all things "old" are "new" again. First it was my old/new love
from 23 years ago (that's going very well, by the way!). Now, slightly less
than a month after losing my job of 11 years, I've been called by a company
I worked for 14 years ago (and was laid off from after a year and 3 months)
for an interview. Hmmm, flashbacks? Coincidence?
Anyway, I get this call - "Jill? This is Paul, remember me?" Of course I
do! We worked in Tech Support together. (He's the guy who brought in
bottles of homemade Egg Nog one Christmas for all of us with the family
recipe attached - IIRC we opened those bottles around Noon that day LOL -
very potent stuff!) "I saw you sent your resume for the QA Tech position.
I'm over the QA Department now and I'd love to talk with you about it. Any
time that's good for you." How about tomorrow, say 10:30? "That'll work."
Then he started naming off people who are still there whom I would remember
from back then.
It does help to be interviewing with someone you already know - cuts down on
the nerve factor. Please send job purrs my way anyway. Every little bit
helps :)

It went well...at least I think it did. I hate interviews!
It was kind of like a reunion. (laugh) I was sitting in the lobby and here
comes Andee (female). She shrieked OMG! Jill! I heard you were coming in!
Then a voice from above on the balcony calls down she looks exactly the
same, too! (James). Beverly came over - Jill! I didn't even notice you
sitting there a minute ago! Marilyn, Jamie, and of course, Paul (who would
be my boss). Jeff, the owner and President, stuck his head in the door
during the interview to say "hi".
Anyway, I think it went okay. It helps that I'm already familiar with their
software. He showed me some of the new stuff, which is what I'd be doing QA
on. He also showed me the old product which they still sell and support -
that looked exactly like I remember even if it's 25 releases later. I got
the grand tour of the offices and he brought me up to date on what's changed
since I left.
We shall see. I'll keep you posted.
More purrs, please! :)
