Hi All,

So Mama Cat has a healthy litter of kittens who are now living on
my neighbor Doris' porch.

A week ago, when the kittens showed up there, Doris teased DH
that Mama Cat had  chosen her porch this time instead of ours.  Of
course, it might have something to do with the fact that we are
redecorating our porch.  Now Doris is not so sure that the kittens are
a good idea after all.  Her own cats, Tootie and Myer are staying in
the house and acting like brats.  Dorrie is going through crunchies
like they are going out of style and is mobbed whenever she goes
outdoors.

Kittens are cute little things, right?  Yes they are, but Mama
Cat is in the process of teaching them how to kill birds and there are
now feathers and blood all over the porch.

So I just got a call from Doris asking for help.  I listen
patiently.  There are now not one, but two families of kittens on her
porch.  Eleven kittens is a lot of kittens but they're not really
ready to be taken from their mothers yet.  Doris asks me what to do.
I try to calm down the easily excited Doris and tell her that Lynda
will call the animal control people on Monday and see if they will
come out and help with the roundup.

The problem with the kittens is that Mama Cat wants her kits to
be wild cats who just happen to have a meal ticket.  She doesn't like
the idea of people getting too close and teaches this behavior to her
babies.  We'll just have to do the best we can.

    Eleven kittens, yikes!

Yikes!!!!  And I thought it was bad getting mobbed by four little ones on my
front porch - and they try to climb up me!  I made the mistake of wearing
shorts once - not one of my more brilliant ideas.  I'll be glad when the
Fearsome Foursome are old enough to be adopted out.

Cats' presence increases geometrically, not arithmetically.  Two cats
can feel like four, four like thirty, and eleven . . .  !?

Friend of mine adopted a kitten.  He thought it was so cute, the way the
kitten would climb him to get to his shoulder - until the day he was
shaving in the bathroom, nude!

Heheh, well they don't know you aren't a tree!!  They sure are cute, though.
Glad they have no fleas and got a (so far) clean bill of health.  They are
just adorable.  Now put some pants on!

If it weren't summer here, I'd be wearing several pairs of jeans when I go
out there.  Fist it was just Meanie that climbed... then Eenie... now all
four!  Know how hard it is to walk with 4 kittens attached to you ankles????
I have to take GIANT steps and lift my legs up HIGH in order to get through
unscathed (it also helps to watch them and make sure you yank the target
ankle out of the way just as they make a leap for it, then you can take a
couple steps away while the sit there confused and wondering 'wha
happened?') - makes me look like I'm walking through a muddy, leech infested
bog ;)

With ALL the kitties I have .....

(snip>>>- makes me look like I'm walking through a muddy, leech infested
bog ;))

That occurs each time I get out of bed and make for the bathroom or kitchen
via the hall...but mine aren't small kittens but thundering lard butts....
all milling around MOM each and everyone wanting me to "Pick Me Up Mom"...It
looks like party time for roaches as I attempt to make my way down the
hall....sometimes I feel like Moses parting the sea! but alas I'm a poor
parter :-) Liz
