They have their first visit to the vet this afternoon.  I'm going to put one
of our carriers on the front porch, opened with one of their sleeping towels
in it so they won't be so scared of it... not that anything scares Meanie -
well, OK, the lawn mower did yesterday (finally got around to finishing the
yard), but only when DH got up close to the front porch did she actually
cower.

Purrs for the Fearsome Foursome that all goes well, and that they have no

I *knew* they wouldn't be afraid of that carrier.  Not 5 minutes after I put
it out there, they were trying to climb on top of it (they are tiny
critters - when Weeble was their age, he was a monster cat), and just now I
looked out there, and all 4 are napping away in it.

Oh how wonderful.  That's just great.  I wish I had got Stinky when he
was a bit younger so I could have properly prepared him for the
carrier.  It is so amazing to see how he changes from Cat Dr. Jekyll
to Cat Mr. Hyde when he has to go into the carrier.

I got him a Sherpa bag ($$), for its big wide opening (better to get
the big fuzzbutt in), and the mesh panels (reassuring, I thought.
HA).  When I put him in it for the first time, I turned away for five
minutes, and suddenly saw his paw come shooting through a rip in the
side of the bag.  He had clawed his way through it.

Houdini cat!  I've seen them work the zipper on those from the inside and
escape without anyone the wiser.

It looked just like a cartoon.  Mind you, Stinky very often looks like
a cartoon.

I have a large Sherpa bag for mine. They usually stay inside it quite nicely
(though not happily), but once Frank managed to open the zipper on top. The
Sherpa bag was on our boat, and the boat was in a harbour. Frank made a
beeline for the dock, but luckily, I had put his harness and leash on him,
and managed to catch the leash just before he jumped ashore.

The d*g on the boat beside us wasn't as lucky. They had just landed, and
the owner had just taken off the d*g's life jacket (yes, they look
ridiculous, but I suppose they're useful - except in this case, because it
was no longer on the d*g). The d*g prepared to jump ashore, but it was too
far and he fell into the water. The owner managed to fish him up
immediately, and he was perfectly alright. I stood at the bow of our boat,
holding on to Frank's leash and watching this. I think Frank put the d*g up
to it. ;o)

TED says that kittens look healthy, are about 6 weeks old, and couldn't find
any fleas on them.  He gave them wormer, but he said that they were too
little to try & find a vein to do a check for FELV or FIV, so he didn't want
to do any vaccinations either.  They go back on 6/11 for wormer part 2 & to
see if they are big enough for the tests & shots.  I will then have a local
rescue agency list them on Petfinder.com & we will see what happens then.

That's bogus... Rufous got blood drawn for tests when he was barely 4
weeks old. :)

Awww... I was actually a bit surprised the lady at the Humane Society
was able to quickly find a vein on Rufous. She chose him because he was
the plumper of the two I was taking home with me. They were tiny too!
